in transit. Damaged packing may indicate incorrect
handling during transportation. Report any damage
which has occurred in transit to the machine dealer
immediately.
The following parts are delivered separately and
must be fitted or added to the machine prior to initial
operation:
upper saw guard
connecting hose
branch pipe (for connection of lower and upper
extraction outlets)
multi-purpose guide fence
push stick.
These parts are assembled as follows:
• Upper saw guard
Loosen wing screw 2 (Fig. 2 - page 3) by approx.
5 turns to the left, push on the wing screw and -
while keeping it pushed - fit upper saw guard 1
horizontally to the riving knife / splitter 3. Make
sure that the shank of the wing screw has
engaged with the bore on top of the riving knife /
splitter when the wing screw is released. Position
the saw guard as desired and retighten wing
screw 2.
• Connecting hose and branch pipe
At first fit branch pipe 4 (Fig. 5 - page 3) to the
hose connector of the lower saw guard. The con-
nection to the hose connector of the upper saw
guard is made with connecting hose 5 pushed
onto the corresponding hose connector of the
branch pipe.
• Multi-purpose guide fence
The installation of the multi-purpose guide fence
is described in the included assembly instructions.
• Push stick and push block handle
Push stick 6 (Fig. 5 - page 3) supplied with the
machine can be kept close at hand by keeping it
in the support provided on the right or left side of
the machine between the two die-cast handles 7.
To keep the push block handle (optional acces-
sory) close at hand hook it onto one of the holes
at the front end of the right or the rear end of the
left side of the machine. Together with a piece of
solid wood it becomes a push block for safe feed-
ing of small workpieces. To complete the push
block place the handle on a suitable piece of
wood and press the two spikes into it. Finally
press the wing screw down and screw it in.
For carrying the machine by two persons use die-
cast handles 7 on both sides of the machine.
The recesses and the handles are positioned at dif-
ferent heights. This facilitates carrying the machine
up and down stairs. If one person carries the
machine by the top recess and another person by
the handles the machine remains level.
The two legs 9 and 10 (Fig. 6 - page 3) of the sup-
port of the machine are folded in for easy transporta-
tion. For carrying the machine by one person
recesses are provided on the front and rear side
directly below the table top.
To set up the machine, simply unfold both legs 9 and
10 until they are locked in their final position. For
transportation, e.g. to the building site, fold away the
legs. For this purpose proceed as follows:
• Push down rear locking bar 8 (Fig. 3 - page 3) for
unlocking the rear legs 9 and fold them in com-
pletely (see Fig. 6).
• While the machine is now in a slanted position,
push down the front locking bar and fold in the
front legs 10, too (Fig. 6 - page 3).
3.2
Mains connection
The Erika 85 E pull-push saw has a class II earthing
protection. The machine is delivered with mains
cable and plug and can be operated only on sin-
glephase alternating current. Make sure that mains
voltage and frequency match the voltage and fre-
quency stated on the rating plate.
The mains connection for the machine (for instance
of the distribution board on site) must be protected
by a 10 A slow-blow fuse.
In the event of power failure the motor switches off
automatically.
3.3
Chip extraction
To ensure troublefree and reliable operation indoors,
the machine must be connected with a flexible and
hardly inflammable hose to an external extraction.
The diameter of the extractor connection is 58 mm
(2 9/32 in.).
To ensure an efficient extraction the upper saw
guard must also connected to the system by using
the connecting hose supplied with the machine. The
minimum air velocity at the extractor connection
must be 20 m/s (65.6 ft/sec.).
