CYLINDER / PISTON
CYLINDER REMOVAL
Remove the cylinder head.
Remove the guide roller bolt and cam chain guide roller.
Remove the 6 mm bolt and cylinder.
Remove the O-ring, gasket and dowel pins.
CYLINDER INSPECTION
Inspect the cylinder bore for wear or damage.
Measure the cylinder I.D. at three places; the top, middle and
bottom areas of piston travel, and in two directions at right
angles to each other.
SERVICE LIMITS: 39.05 mm
Measure the piston O.D. and calculate the piston-to-cylinder
clearance using the maximum cylinder I.D. measurement.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.15 mm
Measure the cylinder for taper at three levels in an X and Y axis.
Take the maximum reading to determine the taper.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.10 mm
Measure the cylinder for out-of-round at three levels in an X
and Y axis. Take the maximum reading to determine the out-
of-round.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.10 mm
Check the cylinder for warpage with a straight edge and a
feeler gauge.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.05 mm
