Commissioning

Calibrate the flask level sensor

The flask level sensor (S4) must be calibrated during the initial commissioning and
every time the solvent is changed.
WARNING: Personal injuries and /or damage to property,
loss of production
In case of inadequate calibration or failure of a level sensor (S4),
overflow/leaking of the flask contents is prevented by an emer-
gency stop sensor (S3)!
As soon as this sensor responds in the cooler, the Distimatic Pro
and the connected peripheral devices are switched to a safe oper-
ating state and no further medium is fed in.
CAUTION: Loss of production
The function of the level sensor in the evaporation flask (S4) may
be affected by electromagnetic fields. This can lead to a loss of the
operational quality of the entire system.
To calibrate the flask level sensor, follow these steps:
Make sure that the sensor is connected to the Distimatic Pro correctly.
Switch on the Distimatic Pro and wait approximately 10 minutes for the electronics
to warm up to operating temperature. In this way, measurement inaccuracies are
avoided during calibration!
Calibration to maximum sensitivity, low-polar solvents:
Remove the sensor from the evaporation flask.
Hold the sensor in the open space.
Make sure there are no objects or bodies in a hemispherical space one (1) meter
in front of the sensor head. These would be detected as a signal and falsify the
calibration result!
Start the calibration process in the device software:
Open the main menu using the
the start window:
In extreme cases, there is a danger of the emer-
gency stop sensor (S3) not clearly detecting the
overflow of very low polar media such as hexane
or heptane. If you change to such a medium,
contact our application specialists if necessary
(see "Heidolph International contact informa-
tion" on page 156).
During calibration, commissioning and operation, ensure that
there are no sources of interference in the immediate vicinity
of the evaporation flask to ensure proper operation of the level
sensor at all times.
