Principle of operation

The automatic Hei-VOLUME Distimatic Pro module has been specially developed for use
in combination with rotary evaporators. The automatic module enables the automatic
filling and draining of the system in continuous operation.
The following processes are controlled with the automatic Hei-VOLUME Distimatic Pro
module:
– Filling the evaporation flask
– Drainage of distillate
– Drainage of residue
The following operating modes are available to the user:
– SENSOR MODE
Standard mode for automatic filling and draining in continuous operation (see
section "Sensor mode" on page 126).
– TIME MODE
The time mode is used specifically for processing media that form sticky
residues or that tend to foam (see section "Time mode" on page 136).
RINSE MODE

The rinse mode is used to flush the supply lines and drains with a solvent for
cleaning purposes (see section "Rinse mode" on page 141).
MANUAL MODE

In manual mode, the connected rotary evaporator can be operated for
processing small quantities (see section "Manual mode" on page 146).
In automatic operation (sensor and time mode), the distillate and – depending on the
variant (with or without automatic drainage of residue) – the residue is drained from
the collector or the evaporation flask by applying overpressure. Distillate and residue
can also be drained manually by the push of a button. The required overpressure is
generated by a compressor integrated in the Distimatic Pro.
The evaporation flask is filled from the educt container using the vacuum in the rotary
evaporator system. The required vacuum is generated by an external vacuum pump.
A pressure mode valve is used to switch between the compressor (overpressure opera-
tion) and the vacuum pump (underpressure operation).
