Instructions for use
Please read carefully!
Materials used: PSU (Polysulfone) ; PC
(Polycarbonate); Silicone
CAUTION: Ensure medications are
prepared and administered in compli-
ance with drug manufacturer's recom-
mendations.
• PureSite is designed for use with
luer lock syringes and access
devices.
• Single use only, Do not resterilize.
Use only if the packaging is intact.
• PureSite is not compatible with
the solvent N,N-Dimethylace ta-
mide commonly found in Busulfex®/
Busulfan.
• Disposal of components should be
in accordance with local regula-
tions and procedures for the han-
dling of hazardous drugs
• Use Aseptic technique (only alcohol
pads).
• Swabbing as per manufacturer and
institution's protocol
I. A. For Medication Preparation
(Admixture) using a syringe:
1. Open package of PureSite at desig-
nated end. Attach female luer end
of PureSite to syringe by holding
the orange grip with the package

2. The female luer of PureSite has a
permanent connection and cannot
be detached from the syringe (spin-

ning) (

3. Connect PureSite to needle free vial
access device (2).
4. Invert vial and aspirate medication.
5. To expel air from syringe, draw half
of required volume, tap inverted
syringe. Depress plunger to expel
air, then draw up plunger to total
required volume (3).
6. Disconnect PureSite from needle
free vial access device.
7. Cap for better protection during
transportation (See dust cover cap's
instructions) (4).
8. Transport per institutional protocol.
I. B. For IV Bolus Administration
using Syringe:
1. Swab luer access device on Patient
IV Administration set per institu-
tional protocol.

2. Swab PureSite male luer (5) and
firmly connect the PureSite with
luer access device. Hold the Pure-
Site (orange grip) instead of the
syringe (6).
3. Deliver medication.
4. Disconnect by removing Pure-
Site (orange grip) from luer access
device.
5. Dispose of syringe assembly per
institutional protocol.
II. A. For Medication Preparation
using a Secondary IV Administra-
tion set:
1. Prepare IV solution container and
secondary administration set per
manufacturer's instructions.
2. Attach secondary set to solution
container and prime tubing per
manufacturer's instructions.
3. Open package of PureSite at des-
ignated end. Attach female luer end
of PureSite to end of Secondary IV
Administration set by holding the
orange grip with the package (

5. Remove residual air from PureSite
by connecting a female luer con-
nector (opening of PureSite) and
priming (8).
6. Remove female luer connector.
7. Cap if desired (See dust cover cap's
instructions) (9).
8. Transport per institutional protocol.
II. B. For Medication IV Administra-
tion using a Secondary IV Admin-
istration set:
1. Lower patient's primary IV con-
tainer and hang secondary IV
administration set per manufac-
turer's instructions.
2. Swab luer access device on patient
IV Administration set.
3. Remove cap (if used) from male
luer of PureSite. Swab PureSite (5)
and attach to female luer of access
device (hold the PureSite with the
orange grip) (6).
4. Proceed with fluid administration
5. Remove secondary IV set by discon-
necting PureSite from luer access
device on primary IV line.
6. Dispose of secondary IV set per
institutional protocol.
Warning
Re-use of single-use devices creates a
potential risk of patient or user. It may
lead to contamination and/or impair-
ment of functional capability. Con-
tamination and/or limited functional-
ity of the device may lead to injury,
illness or death of the patient.
