8.3.1 Slide switches
The monitoring module has three slide switches at the front for
the control of the function of the monitoring module. The contact
behaviour of the output relay, the wire breakage and short-circuit
monitoring can be set.
Position
The three slide switches must be in the correct position:
NC: Quiescent current behaviour of the output relay; will close
when a contact is opened on the input side.
WB: Wire breakage monitoring.
SC: Short-circuit monitoring.
8.3.2 LEDs
Two LEDs are located above the slide switches:
Pwr:
Green = applied voltage.
1:
Yellow = low system pressure.
Red = wire breakage or short-circuit.
Low system pressure (yellow LED)
If a pressure-switch contact opens on the input side (terminals 1
to 4) due to a decrease of pressure in the system, the output relay
(terminals 7 to 10) will be activated, and the yellow LED will
illuminate.
The output relay will be deactivated, and the LED indication will
disappear when the pressure switch contact closes again.
Wire break or short-circuit (red LED)
In the event of a wire breakage or a short-circuit on the input side
of the monitoring device (terminals 7 and 10), the alarm relay will
drop out, and the LED will be red.
At the same time, indicator light H4 (fire pump fault) will
illuminate. When the fault has been corrected, the light will go
out.
8.3.3 Resistance module
A resistance module must be directly connected to the respective
pressure switch. See wiring diagram.

9. Operating conditions

9.1 Controller

9.1.1 Temperature range
Ambient temperature: 0 to +40 °C.
Storage and transport: –25 to +60 °C.
9.1.2 Relative air humidity
Keep air humidity at a low level to prevent the formation of
moisture.

9.2 Pump

See the Grundfos NKF pump installation and operating
instructions.

10. Installation

10.1 General information

The installation and connection of the controller must comply with
local regulations and accepted codes of good practice.
This includes DIN VDE 0100, DIN VDE 0660 and DIN VDE 0106
as well as the accident prevention regulations of the Accident
Prevention and Insurance Association UVV VBG 4.
Take into account the regulations for VdS-approved systems,
especially VdS 2092 and VdS 2100.
Also observe the regulations of the local power supply
companies.

10.2 Electrical connection

The controller is approved for connection to the conventional
TN system.
Disconnection by means of an overcurrent device (DIN
VDE 0100/part 410) can be used as a protective measure from
indirect contact.
Earth leakage circuit-breakers are not allowed for
the supply to VdS systems for special protection
Caution
reasons!
Different and/or supplementary preventive measures may be
required for special network configurations, for example IT or
TT systems, which may cause alterations to the controller.
The sizing of the supply cable must allow for the overload and
short-circuit protection in compliance with DIN VDE 0100,
part 430.
The safeguard in the low-voltage main distribution system and in
the emergency power supply is to be conducted taking the
selectivity of the NH-fuse in the fire pump controller into account.
Select and lay the cables for VdS systems in such a way that they
will remain functional in the event of a fire (fire protection
covering E30 or E90 or cables with function preservation E90).
The power supply to the X0 supply terminals takes place via an
applied clockwise rotating field. See the enclosed wiring diagram.
The line-to-line voltages can be read from the voltmeter by means
of the input selector switch.

10.3 Motor connection

Size the cables from the controller to the fire pump motor in
accordance with DIN VDE 0100, part 430, to ensure short-circuit
protection and to comply with the permissible line-drop voltage.
The existing overload relay in the load circuit of the motor will not
result in disconnection (VdS requirement) when it is triggered, but
only in an indication of the fault.
The factory setting of the motor outlet for the fire pump motor is
counter-clockwise rotation.
Some submersible pumps, however, require that
the motor is set to clockwise rotation (see the
Caution
information provided by the pump supplier or
conduct a test run)!
To change the direction of rotation to clockwise rotation,
interchange two phases of the external motor connections of
terminal block X1. See the wiring diagram.
