11.5 Level indication

(Option)
Level indication is by means of:
rod electrode (pressure tank)
float switch (option).
11.5.1 Level indication by means of rod electrode
A 4-pin rod electrode can be used in combination with the
appropriate electrode relay for monitoring the level in the
pressure tank.

Fig. 7
Schematic drawing of a 4-pin rod electrode
If only the electrodes E3 and E0 are positioned in the water,
indicator light H14 (minimum water level) will illuminate.
If electrode E2 is also in the water as a result of an increase in the
water level, indicator light H15 (normal water level) will illuminate.
Indicator light H16 (maximum water level) will illuminate when the
maximum water level has been reached (E1 is in the water).
This light will remain on until the water level falls below electrode
E1.
Then indicator light H15 (normal water level) will illuminate.
Indicator light H14 (minimum water level) will illuminate as soon
as the water level falls below electrode E3. The light will remain
on until the water level has reached electrode E2 again.
The length of the rod electrode is 500 mm. Electrode E0 functions
as reference. The necessary hysteresis between the individual
switching points can occur via the individual truncation of
electrodes E1, E2 and E3.
11.5.2 Level indication by means of float switch
A float switch can be used to easily monitor the level in the
pressure water tank, intermediate tank, storage tank, etc. in
which a switching hysteresis of 120 mm is sufficient.
Both switches (min. and max.) of the float switch are closed when
the water level is normal. There is no indication on the control
panel.
If the water level increases to the maximum level, the upper
switch will open, and indicator light H18 (maximum water level)
will illuminate.
This light will remain on until the water level is below the
switching point again.
As soon as the water level falls below the minimum point, the
lower switch will open, and indicator light H17 (minimum water
level) will illuminate. This light will remain on until the water level
rises above this switching point again.
11.5.3 Potential-free signalling
Rod electrode (E3) for minimum water level:
1 changeover contact.
Rod electrode (E2) for normal water level:
1 changeover contact.
Rod electrode (E1) for maximum water level:
1 changeover contact.
Float switch for minimum water level:
1 changeover contact.
Float switch for maximum water level:
1 changeover contact.

11.6 Motor valve

(Option)
Open the valve by means of button S15 (motor valve open).
The valve will be switched off by a limit switch when it reaches
the end position, and indicator light H20 (motor valve open) will
illuminate.
Close the valve by means of button S16 (motor valve closed).
The valve will be switched off means of the corresponding limit
switch after reaching the end position, and indicator light
H19 (motor valve closed) will illuminate.
Indicator light H21 (motor valve fault) will illuminate when the
thermal protection of the motor has been activated. This is only a
fault indication and does not result in the disconnection of the
motor valve.
The fault indication will disappear when the motor has cooled.
11.6.1 Potential-free signalling
Motor valve closed:
1 changeover contact.
Motor valve open:
1 changeover contact.
Motor valve fault:
1 changeover contact.

12. Routine checks

Warning
Before starting work on the CONTROL FS 1 con-
troller, make sure that the power supply has been
switched off and that it cannot be accidentally
switched on.
Maintain the fire sprinkler system ready for
Caution
operation according to the guidelines stated in
VdS 2092 6/87, Appendix A6!

12.1 Weekly checks

Inspect the phase voltages with the input selector switch and
the voltmeter.
Press button S5 (indicator light test).
Start and stop the fire pump manually by pressing fire pump
buttons S2 (fire pump on) and S3 (fire pump off).
Check indicator lights H2 and H3 for fire pump operation.
Start the fire pump automatically by trigging pressure switches
B 1 and B 2. Check indicator lights H2 and H3 for fire pump
operation.
Stop the pump by pressing button S3 (fire pump off) during a
decrease of pressure. Indicator light H3 (fire pump is manually
switched off) illuminates. Bring the setpoint for the pressure
switches back to nominal setpoint. The indication disappears.

12.2 Monthly checks

Follow the same procedure as with weekly checks. Examine the
manual and automatic operation of the optional units.
