3.2.3. NEW: Setting the zero point for collective pitch - tail rotor mixing

The starting point of the collective pitch - tail rotor mixer must be 0º collective pitch.
However, the 0º point does not normally correspond to the centre position of the
collective pitch stick; it lies between the stick centre position (hover) and the
collective pitch minimum position.
This is the procedure for setting the 0º point:
Procedure
Select the menu point O-PNT in the MIX menu,
1.
and move to the second line.
Use the collective pitch stick and a pitch gauge to
set the rotor blades to 0º pitch. The screen shows
the associated % value for the collective pitch stick.
2.
Press the digi-adjustor to accept and store the

3.2.4. Static tail rotor compensation

If your model is hovering, and you put it into a climb or descent (change collective
pitch), there is a corresponding increase or decrease in system torque. The helicopter
reacts to this change by rotating around its vertical axis. If you set up static tail rotor
compensation correctly, the mixer compensates for this change in torque when the
machine climbs or descends, and thus prevents the helicopter swinging round.
This is the procedure for setting static tail rotor compensation:
Procedure
Select the T-ROT CP setting in the MIX menu and
1.
move to the second line
Select the value for climb (CP) or descent (CP–)
using the collective pitch stick, and
2.
adjust the setting with the digi-adjustor
3.
Continue as in summary sheet
Read section 3.2.8, point b) for further details.

TIP ! Adjusting static tail rotor compensation
If your helicopter's building instructions do not state values for tail
rotor compensation, you can set a good basic starting point for the
mixer as follows:
§
Swivel both tail rotor blades until they point up.
§
Move the collective pitch stick to the collective pitch
maximum position (climb), then to collective pitch minimum
(descent).
§
Adjust T-ROT PI in such a way that the distance between the
two blade tips is about 30 mm (for descent: approx. 10 mm).
The exact setting can only be found by practical
flight testing (è3.2.8, b)
indicated value..
Return to first line.
