8 PREPARATION
The following parts are included in the packaging for assembly of the mower:
Mower with preassembled guide bar
Collector sheet, grass collector frame
Tool bag with the following contents:
Operating instructions with declaration of conformity
Warranty conditions (depending on model)
Various fixing parts.
In the unlikely event of a missing part, please contact your dealer.
ATTENTION
Always remove the spark plug connector before fitting the bar and starter cable
holder, and when folding the bar out. Following assembly, at the latest before
starting the engine, push the spark plug connector back in place.
Raise the guide bar (figure A1 + E1 + B1 )
IMPORTANT
Ensure that the Bowden cables are not kinked or trapped when raising the guide
bars!
IMPORTANT
Make sure that the cables are not pinched, squeezed, twisted or overstretched
when the guide bars are folded apart or collapsed! Always run the cables along
the outside of the bar connection. A damaged cable may result in a technical
defect of the device.
Open out the Z-shaped folded guide bar by pulling upwards.
A1 .
When the upper and lower section of the guide bar are at one level, tighten the
wing nuts manually E1 .
On the lower part of the guide bar, swivel the ends with the toothed plastic
adaptors backwards until they engage in the likewise toothed recess on the
mower housing B1 .
Thus, three different handlebar heights can be set.
Manually tighten the wing nuts on both sides B1.
Insert the Bowden cable into the cable guide. This prevents the Bowden cable
from becoming trapped when collapsing the guide bar down E1 .
Attach the Bowden cables to the left lower bar with the help of the shorter cable
ties from the tool bag.
CAUTION
When operating the bar height adjustment, the bar may turn over unintentionally
when loosening the wing nuts B1 to fasten the lower bar section at the housing
(loosen only so far that the bar can move freely) and disengaging the toothed
plastic adaptors from the recesses on the housing. In addition, there may be
pinching points between lower bar section and housing. This may result in risk
of injury.
Handle starter assembly (figure L1 )
Remove the starter cable holder (1) from the tool bag.
Unscrew the nut until the two halves can be pushed over the bar.
There is a sticker (2) on the top bar showing the position of the starter cable
holder.
ATTENTION
For reasons of safety, the starter cable holder may only be fitted in the
prescribed position.
Press the engine stop control bar (3) onto the upper bar section (4) and hold it
there; pull out the starter cable (5) and insert it into the starter cable holder.
Fit the two halves together (6), re-tighten the nut. This prevents the starter cable
from popping out.
The starter cable holder must be fitted / aligned in such a way that the starter
cable is freely accessible and does not rub against any other parts.
Attaching the grass collecting bag to the mower (figure R1 + S1 )
Insert the grass collector frame into the collector sheet with the bar to the front.
Align the top seam of the collector sheet with the bar.
Press the retaining profiles onto the frame of the grass collector frame R1 .
Open the ejection flap of the mower upwards.
Pick up the grass collecting bag by the carrying strap, insert the chute (1) R1
at the collecting bag opening into the ejection opening and hang in the grass
collecting bag at the top of the mower housing with its two side hooks S1 .
Attach ejection flap to collecting bag.
Adjusting the cutting height (figure I )
The cutting height is set behind the engine.
Press the grey push button with your thumb and move the mower to the desired
position by lifting or lowering the handle.
After releasing the push button, the lever engages at the desired cutting
height.
The marking on the left of the housing points to the set cutting height.
IMPORTANT
You should only use your mower at the lowest cutting height on even and flat
lawn surfaces!
Please note that the lower cutting height settings are only to be used under
optimum conditions. If your selected cutting height is too low, the sward may
be damaged and even destroyed.
In addition to the cutting height, the driving speed also influences the cutting
pattern and the collection result. Adjust the cutting height and the driving speed
to the grass height to be cut.
9 BEFORE INITIAL USE
Check all screw connections and the spark plug connector for a tight fit. Tighten the
screws, if necessary. You must particularly check the fastening of the cutter bar
(see chapter "Maintenance of the cutter bar").
The blade fastening screw must always be tightened by an authorised workshop. If
the blade screw is tightened excessively or insufficiently, blade coupling and cutter bar
may be damaged or get loose, which can lead to serious injuries.
The lawn mower is fitted with an engine stop device.
Before using the equipment for the first time, make sure that the engine stop safety
control bar is working perfectly. When the stop control bar is released, engine and
cutter bar must come to a standstill within three seconds.
After release, the bar must always return to the position shown in the
"Description of components" diagram.
If this is not the case, it must be checked immediately by an authorised workshop.
Risk of injury!
If the stopping time of the blade is longer, stop using the device and take it to an
authorised workshop.
Measuring the stopping time
After starting the combustion engine, the blade rotates and a wind noise can be heard.
The stopping time corresponds to the duration of the wind noise after the combustion
engine has been switched off; it can be measured with a stopwatch.
Machine safety and protective devices must not be manipulated or disabled.
Make sure that all protective devices have been attached properly and are not
damaged.
Filling with oil (figure Y1 )
IMPORTANT
Avoid damage! Engine is delivered without oil. You must add oil before running
the engine.
Before the first start, fill in engine oil (quantity and quality see technical data) with
a funnel into this opening after unscrewing the dipstick.

Safety information!
For explanation of symbols, see
the table on page 2
Only
Always place the mower on a level area which is not covered with high grass (if the
grass is too high it will block the start-up of the cutter bar and make the starting process
more difficult). When the engine is started, the machine must not be tilted on end, if
necessary it must be tilted by pressing the guide bar down so that the cutting tool is
pointing in the direction away from the user, but only as far as absolutely necessary.
As long as the device has not been lowered to the ground again, both of your hands
must be on the top part of the bar.
CAUTION
Hold the starter cable handle firmly when starting. The handle may otherwise
slip out of your hand. Risk of injury!
6
Park the mower on level ground.
Fill in the oil slowly through the filler. Do not overfill. After filling in the oil, wait
for about one minute and then check the oil level.
Insert the dipstick and tighten it.
Checking the oil level
Remove the dipstick. Wipe the dipstick with a clean cloth, reinsert and tighten
it. Pull out the dipstick again and read off the oil level. The oil must be at the top
of the full marking (max.). If necessary, refill oil. However, the oil level must not
be above the full marking.
Reinsert the dipstick and tighten it.
After initial filling, remove the sign "NO OIL" at the top of the engine.
Only fill the tank with fresh and clean unleaded standard petrol.
Fuel with up to 10% ethanol is acceptable.
Unscrew the tank cap.
Fill tank with fuel using a funnel up to max. lower edge of the filling nozzle.
Replace tank cap and screw tight.
