8. Insert the inlet filter in the "Test connection for
injected fuel quantity" (Fig. 41, item 4).
9. Close the guard.

After the "leak test", fit the injection chamber on the
component and connect the hose 1 680 712 362 to
the quick-release coupling of the injection chamber
(fig. 41, item 6) and via the inlet filter to the "Test
connection for injected fuel quantity" (Fig. 41,
item 4).

5.5 Topping up test oil
The test oil must be topped up if the level drops below
the mark on the oil level indicator (Fig. 1, item 8).

If it is poured in too quickly, the test oil may run out
at the turned-up flushing drain or at the connection
for external extraction.
1. Turn the flushing drain (Fig. 3, item 6) upwards.
2. Pour test oil (ISO 4113) very slowly and carefully
into the jet chamber (Fig. 3, item 4).

If the level is exactly on the mark of the oil level
indicator, a maximum of 1.5 l of test oil can be
added.
3. Pour in test oil as far as the upper visible area of the
oil level indicator.
 The EPS 205 is ready for operation again.

The system software is described in the Online
Help. The Online Help can be called up in every
dialog window with <F1>. The Online Help cannot be
opened during CRI/CRIN and CRI Piezo testing.

Updating software

!
We recommend database back-up before updating
the system software (see Online Help).
!
All customer data, protocols, user-generated test
procedures and reference pressure values for
common rail injectors stored on the EPS 205 are lost
on restoring the operating system with the Product
Recovery CD. We recommend making a back-up
copy of the database before restoring the operating
system. Following installation of the Product
Recovery CD, pressure sensor calibration must
be performed again by Customer service/Testing
department personnel. The calibration values for
the nozzle-and-holder assembly (DHK/UI) and the
calibration factor for the flowmeter are stored on the
trigger electronics and are not lost on restoration.

under "System >> Software".
5.8 Faults
i
Follow the instructions on the screen with regard
to faults in the EPS 200 system software. Customer
service must be notified if the problem cannot be
rectified.
Fault
LCD remains blank following
switch-on.
Test oil mist is not extracted
properly during spray pattern
test.
After clicking onto the touch
screen with the pen, the
mouse pointer does not
appear at the same location.
Remedial action
Check electrical connection
(if power is being supplied
properly, the fan on the back
of the EPS 205 must run and
the ring lamp in the injection
chamber must light).
1. Check compressed air
connection
(0.5 MPa − 0.8 MPa).
2. Make the correct setting
for the internal extraction
controller.
