12.12 Chin Control

The chin control allows the user to control the wheelchair functions with a small
joystick which can be positioned directly at the user's chin by means of a swivel arm.
A separate multifunction switch is used to control all required switch functions (fig. 38).
The multifunction switch has three possible positions.
The I/O button (on top) is used to switch the control on and off. The mode button
(below) can be used (as with the normal control panel) to increase the speed level and
– when depressed for a while – to leave the driving mode.
The swivel button (right) is used to swivel the joystick arm.
As long as this button is being pressed, the joystick arm moves up to the user.
When pressed again, the joystick arm will change direction and move away from the
user.
Another swivel switch is attached to the rear side of the headrest to also allow the
attendant to control this function.
The joystick's functions are similar to those of the standard joystick.
