on
Sensor test instruments for the sensor diagnostics
A password is required for access to the operating
system. The password is only intended for use during
servicing and is only known to the service technician.

Calibration test
Checks the sensor calibration
Zero calibration — Calibration process of the zero point
of the sensors. Useful if, after the wheel alignment of
the vehicle, the steering wheel is not straight.
12.11 PC keyboard
The function keys on the keyboard serve for fast calling of the
program steps.

12.12 Technical terms

Characteristic angles
This includes all the angles that can be measured with a wheel
alignment device (total track front/rear, half-track left/ right as well
as front/rear, camber left/right as well as front/rear, caster left/
right, spreading left/right, Track difference angle at 20° steering
deflection).
Calibration stand
Precision equipment for calibration of the mounted sensors, must
be stored suitably securely because of the extremely fine
constructional accuracy.
With the calibration, position changes of the sensors owing to
light impacts or thermal variations are evened out.
CCD (Charge Coupled Device)
Spezieller Sensortyp, auch in Fernsehkameras eingesetzt; mit
optimaler Lichtempfindlichkeit.
CCD (Charge Coupled Device)
Special sensor type, also used in TV cameras, with optimum light
sensitivity.
Angle gauge, longitudinal
CCD Sensor for IR measurement of the angle, with the IR
radiation going parallel to the axis of symmetry of the vehicle.
Angle gauge for the angle existing between the front and rear side
of the vehicle.
Inclination gauge
Electronic component for the measurement of the self-inclination
to the vertical: used for camber measurements.

19.03.2010
Wheel center plane
Imaginary vertical plane that divides the wheel in two equal parts.
Turntable
Base with disk for locating the steering wheels of a vehicle, so that
the friction between wheel/Bonen is reduced for better building
up of the spring and no steering angle measurement errors occur.
Keep the area between the disk and the base as clean as
possible.
Infrared rays (IR)
Electromagnetic waves, for the human eye, in the invisible range.
Sensors
These are the actual measuring instruments which record the
characteristic angles on the wheel in the clamped state.
Clamp holder
Adapter between wheel and sensor.
Transducer
Electronic component for the conversion of a physical quantity
into another signal. Angle sensors convert the measured angle
into a current/voltage current that is proportional to the angle
itself.
Function
13.
Maintenance
The Otto Nussbaum GmbH company does not accept
any liability for complaints resulting from the use of non-
original spare parts or accessories.
Before every adjustment or maintenance, the equip-
ment must be isolated from any voltage and all the
moving parts must be secured.
The parts of this machine may be removed or changed
exclusively for the purpose of servicing work only.
Keep the working area clean.
Compressed air or water jets must not be used under
any circumstances for removing dirt or impurities.
During cleaning work, care must be taken that dust is neither
created, nor stirred up.
Do not use any solvents for cleaning the wheel alignment devices
and the sensors.
- Keep the measuring sensors carefully and in a dry state, so that
compensation errors and wrong measurements are avoided.
- Calibrate the sensors at least every 6 months.
- Keep the cover glass of the sensors clean (use a soft cloth; do
not remove the glass panes under any circumstances, or let
them get scratched).
- Keep the guides of the fixing clamp clean.
- The turntables and sliding plates for wheel alignment must
always be clean and may not be oiled or lubricated.
