Setting the Shift Point on a Two-Speed Transmission
Function of the Two-Speed Transmission
Two pinions with a different number of teeth are tightly screwed onto the clutch bell. The two main pinions on the centrifugal clutch are connected with
each other via a one-way bearing. The shift point depends on the revolutions.
In the first rate of speed the engine speed is transmitted from the smaller pinion on the clutch bell to the larger gear on the drive section, while the
gear for the second rate of speed runs idle.
At high speeds the centrifugal force causes the lever of the centrifugal clutch to be pulled outward against a spring resistance and engage the attach-
ment on the gear for the second rate of speed. The engine speed is now transmitted via the larger pinion of the clutch bell to the smaller gear in the
drive section, while the gear for the first rate of speed is running via the one-way bearing.
The spring resistance of the centrifugal clutch, and with it the switch point, can be adjusted with a headless screw (1,5 mm Allen screw).
-
Put down the model so that the wheels can turn freely.
-
Turn the main pinions on the two-speed transmission until the clearance in the cover of the two-speed transmission is visible.
You can access the headless screw from the left.
Inserting the screw
-
Spring preload is increased.
Higher revolutions are necessary for the attachment to engage.
-
The transmission switches later.
Taking out the screw
-
Spring preload is decreased.
Lower revolutions are necessary for the attachment to engage.
-
The transmission switches earlier.
If you are a beginner and are facing problems with the driving speed, we recommend that you postpone the switch point until the
model does not switch into second gear at all.

Installation of an RC-System (in replacement, optional)

The standard RAMBO Racing 7,5 is equipped with built-in RC system, receiver, steering servo and throttle/brake servo. It is also
equipped with a remote control transmitter. This top quality system allows you to operate your model without any problem.
You might find the following installation instructions interesting if you already have an RC system and if you wish to built-in the
latter or if you must replace a defective component.
Before you begin mounting, pre-construct the required accessory parts and have the necessary tools at hand.
The workspace must be appropriately large and well lit. The working surface should be smooth, clean and resistant (against oil
stains, fuel etc.).
Avoid using electric screwdrivers! Self-tapping screws inserted into plastic in particular require a gentle and precise hand when
inserted to ensure that the thread is not damaged.
Place a cloth (single light colour) on the working surface, to ensure that any small parts which may fall, such as screws, are
easily seen and do not roll from the table.
Function of the steering servo
The steering of "RAMBO Racing 7,5" is designed as axle leg steering.
At the same time, the steering knuckle arms are connected with a three-part steering link. The pivoting movement of the servo control lever has an
impact on the steering linkage (1) and on one arm of the servo saver ().
The servo saver consists of two right-angled levers, which can be moved
against each other against a spring in one level with the servo steering lever.
The second lever arm of the servo saver steers the center part of the steering
link (3), hence causing the wheels to turn. (an impact on the wheels has a
reverse effect via the steering knuckle arm on the steering link and the second
arm of the servo saver, prevents the flexible connection to the first lever arm
of the servo saver, that this impact is immediately guided into the servo, thus
damaging the latter.)
Turning right and left is limited by a mechanical stop of the steering knuckle
arm against the axle leg support.
The effect of the servo saver can be adjusted with a knurled
nut by modifying the contact pressure on the two lever arms.
Turning right and left is limited by a mechanical stop of the steering knuckle arm against the axle leg support.
