4.1
System operation
The 'Versatronic' is a multifunctional measurement and control device that can
simultaneously record and process up to four measurements. The most important aspects
are described in more detail below:
Display
A 5.5" colour screen with touch functionality is used both to display all parameters and to
operate and adjust the device.
The plain text operating approach makes it easier for the user to operate the unit.
The languages preset at the factory are: German, English, Spanish, French and Italian.
Measure
As a central platform for the display and further processing of pH, redox potential, electrolytic
conductivity, temperature, disinfection measured values (such as free chlorine, total chlorine,
chlorine dioxide and peracetic acid) and flow rate, the system offers a very wide range of
applications. Universal inputs can be used to measure analogue measured values via unit
signals [0 (4) to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V]. Overall, the device can simultaneously measure and
manage up to 19 parameters.
Regulate
In addition to numerous simple alarms, limits and time-controlled switching functions, up to
4 high-order control loops can be defined in the Ecolab 'Versatronic' simultaneously. The
field-tested Ecolab control algorithms for P, PI, PD and PID control are used.
Register
A screen recorder is integrated for data recording. Up to 8 analogue measured values and
6 binary signals are registered and displayed on the screen with their progression over time.
The storage is tamper-proof and enables compliance with record-keeping regulations. The
data can be read out using the Ecolab PCC software or USB memory stick and evaluated
using the PCA3000 Ecolab PC evaluation software.
DANGER!
The device is not suitable for use in potentially explosive environments.
4.1.1
Special version Versatronic - Cooling Water
The special version Versatonic - Cooling Water was specially designed for the
requirements of bleeding cooling water and can control up to three cooling towers
simultaneously.
Depending on the number of cooling towers controlled, two additional measurements
(such as pH, ORP and chlorine measurement) can also be recorded and processed. For
each cooling tower, the Versatronic - Cooling Water monitors and controls the following
criteria:
Bleeding
If the measured conductivity value exceeds the nominal value W +, the output for the
bleeding valve is activated, and "bleeding" will be displayed on the display.
As soon as the conductivity value falls below W- again by supplying fresh water, the bleeding valve is closed
and the display goes out. Biocide dosing is blocked for the duration of the bleeding process.
Biocide dosing
When controlling one or two cooling towers with one unit, two different biocides can be dosed; when
controlling three cooling towers, one biocide can be dosed per cooling tower. The dosing times are
determined by a weekly timer. Two (for two biocides) or four (for one biocide) dosing times are available
per weekday.
If a dosing point is activated by the weekly timer, then a flag for a biocide (orange
LED) is displayed, the associated output for the particular biocide is activated and
the display will show 'Dos. Biocide (X)' .
After the set dosing time has elapsed, the marker for biocide dosing is reset and an
adjustable time (exposure time) starts during which bleeding remains blocked. The
display shows "Exposure time".
