4.2.1. Solids separation system
The solids separation system consists of a gas-
and water-tight collection tank and two solids
separation tanks with separate shut-offs. No sol-
ids need to be pumped because the waste water
is filtered. Pumps with a smaller flow diameter can
therefore be used. The entire solids separation
system is manufactured from HDPE.
4.2.2. Piping
The entire piping is pre-assembled and manufac-
tured from HDPE. The non-return ball valves are
made of coated gray cast iron.
4.2.3. Pumps
The waste water pump station works alternately
with two dry-installed waste water pumps. This
also allows operation to continue when mainte-
nance or repairs are performed.
The pumps are designed according to the cus-
tomer's requirements and are pre-assembled.
Wilo waste water pumps use submersible motors
as standard. The system is therefore also flood-
proof.

4.2.4. Electrical equipment
Depending on the customer's requirements, the
waste water pump station can be equipped with
various components, such as:
• Switching system
• Lights
• Remote monitoring
• Additional level control

4.3. Monitoring equipment

The waste water pump station is fitted with
an emergency overflow. This ensures that the
incoming waste water does not back up in the
intake if the system malfunctions. The emer-
gency overflow feeds the water directly into the
collector tank.
4.4. Explosion protection
These waste water pump stations, made of HDPE
with a closed collector tank and dry-installed
pumps, have a collector tank which can be used
within ex-zone 1, as long as:
• The pipes for ventilating and bleeding the collec-
tion chamber are directed properly outside.

• The ventilation pipe with gauze and rain cap is
fitted at least 60 cm above the ground.
The area around the collector tank does not
have any explosion zones.
A radius of 1 m around the bleeder pipe of
the collector tank above the soil is classed
as  ex‑zone 2!
To prevent this arrangement from being changed
during maintenance, a pipe fan must also be fit-
ted in the shaft bleeder pipe which automatically
starts up (for example, when a light is switched
on) and cannot be switched off manually. The
fan must be able to replace 8x the volume of
air per hour. The air flow must be inwards. The
pipes must be directed outside properly here too
(see above).

4.5. Operating modes

the pumps, please see the operating and mainte-
nance manual from the pump manufacturer.

4.6. Technical data

• Max. system performance: 1...600 m³/h
• Max. usable tank volume: 40...22000 l
• Max. pump head: 25...85 m
• Installation depth under bottom of intake:
400–2500 mm
