MAINTENANCE
• Waste water pump stations pump fluids hazard-
ous to health. Ensure that no dangerous gases can
form or are present.
If injuries involving hazardous pumping liquids
or gases occur, first‑aid measures must be
performed in accordance with the notices in
the workplace and a doctor should be called
immediately.
• While performing cleaning work in a closed room,
ensure that fresh air is supplied. There must be an
air change at least 8 times per hour (ACH 8), i.e.
the room volume must be exchanged 8 times per
hour so that, according to regulations, a poten-
tially explosive atmosphere is not created. Always
measure the air for asphyxiating gases before
entering an open waste water collection point.
• Ensure that all necessary tools and materials are
available. Tidiness and cleanliness guarantee safe
and problem-free operation of the system. After
working on the system all cleaning materials and
tools should be removed from it. All materials and
tools should be stored in an appropriate place.
• Lubricants, such as oil and grease, must be
collected in suitable vessels and disposed of
properly (in accordance with the 75/439/EEC
directive and with §§5a, 5b AbfG). Appropriate
protective clothing must be worn for cleaning
and maintenance jobs. This is to be disposed of
in accordance with waste code TA 524 02 and
EC  D irective 91/689/EEC. Only lubricants express-
ly recommended by the manufacturer may be
used. Oils and lubricants should not be mixed.
• Only use genuine parts made by the
manufacturer.

8.1. Basic tools

• Open-end and box wrench 10–32 mm
• Allen wrench 6–10 mm
• Torque wrench
• Set of pliers

8.2. Tightening torques

When the system is re-assembled, the seals must
be correctly in place and all the screw connec-
tions on plastic parts tightened to a maximum
of 29 Nm (torque).

8.3. Keeping records

Proof of maintenance must be kept, containing
the following information:
• Date of maintenance
• What has been serviced?
• What was unusual? Remarks!
• What was renewed?
• Current of each pump recorded with a current
clamp, shortly before the end of the pump's
switch-off point (this detects wear).
• Name of the maintenance personnel and
signature of the person responsible
This evidence can be used as a basis for warranty
claims and must be recorded carefully.

8.4. Maintenance intervals

To ensure reliable operation, various maintenance
tasks must be carried out regularly.
When the waste water pump stations are
used inside buildings or on properties, the
maintenance intervals and work shown in
DIN EN 12056‑4 must be adhered to.
8.4.1. Maintenance intervals
Before initial start-up or after a longer
p eriod of storage
• Checking the insulation resistance of the
electrical components
• Checking that the connections do not leak
• Checking the level settings
After 3 months
• Checking the intake pipe and cleaning if
necessary
After 6 months
• Servicing the waste water pumps
• Cleaning the collector tank and emergency
overflow
If the emergency overflow is used regularly,
it must be cleaned monthly!
After 12 months
• Cleaning the solids separation tanks
• Cleaning the intake sliders of the solids
separation tanks and greasing
• Checking the settings of the level controller

8.5. Maintenance tasks

Before performing maintenance:
• Switch the power off to the pump station
and  r elevant components and make sure they
cannot be switched on accidentally.
• Let the pumps cool down.
• Any drops must be removed immediately and
the parts concerned disinfected.
• Ensure that all operation parts are in good
condition.
8.5.1. Checking the insulation resistance
Please refer to the operating and maintenance
manuals of the electrical components (e.g. waste
water pump, switching system)
8.5.2. Checking that the connections do not leak
Perform a visual inspection of all the pipe con-
nections. If there are any leaks, the connections
must be repaired by assembly staff immediately.
8.5.3. Checking the intake pipe and cleaning
if  n ecessary
The intake pipe can be checked and cleaned
using the inspection opening. For the location of
the inspection opening, please see the system
description.
On types MG and MS, the system must be
switched off for this.
