4.8. Scope of delivery

• Waste water pump station with solids separation
system including collector tank and two solids
separation tanks with separate shut-offs
• Piping
• Fittings
• Two waste water pumps
• Installation and operation manual

4.9. Accessories

• Customized tank sizes and intake head, e.g. due
to local assembly openings or door dimensions
• Inductive flow meter with slider
• Switching system with level recorder
• Lights
• Slider for the intake
• Flange outlet for intake and discharge pipe
• Flushing connection

5. Installation

In order to prevent damage to the system or seri-
ous injury during installation, the following points
must be observed:
• Installation work – assembly and installation of
the system – may only be carried out by qualified
persons. The safety instructions must be followed
at all times.
• The system must be inspected for transport dam-
age before any installation work is carried out.
• International and local regulations must be
complied with (e.g. for accident prevention,
working on construction sites).

5.1. General requirements

For planning and operation of technical waste
water systems, pay attention to the pertinent
local regulations and directives for wastewater
technology (such as the German Association for
Water, Wastewater and Waste).
Pressure surges can occur, in particular where
water is pumped with longer discharge pipes
( e specially with steady ascents or steep terrain).
Pressure surges can cause irreversible damage
to the pumps or the whole system and noisy
operation resulting from valve knocking. This can
be avoided by taking appropriate measures (e.g.
non-return valves with adjustable closure time or
laying the discharge pipe in a special way).
32
On the level controller, the switching points for
the minimum and maximum water levels need
to be set correctly. Air pockets in the hydraulic
housing or pipeline system must be avoided at all
costs using a suitable ventilation system. Protect
the system from frost. The recommended tem-
perature range is between 5 °C and 30 °C.

5.2. Types of installation

• Vertical stationary installation in the building or
concrete shaft (FTS MG... and FG...)
• Vertical stationary installation in the HDPE shaft
directly in the soil (FTS MS... and FS...)

5.3. The operating area

The operating area must be clean, free of coarse
solids, dry, frost-free and, if necessary, decon-
taminated. It must also be suitable for the waste
water pump station. When working in shafts,
a second person must be present for safety rea-
sons. If there is a risk of poisonous or asphyxiating
gases forming, the necessary precautions must
be taken!
It must be ensured that hoisting gear can be fit-
ted without any trouble, since this is required for
assembly and removal of the waste water pump
station. It must be possible to reach the system
safely in its operating and storage locations using
the hoisting gear. The machine must be posi-
tioned on a firm foundation. For transporting the
system, the load-carrying equipment must be
secured to the appropriate lifting eyelets.
Electric power cables must be laid out in such
a way that safe operation and trouble-free
assembly/dismantling are possible at all times.
The electrical components used must have the
appropriate protection class. Switching systems
and compressors must always be mounted in such
a way that they are protected from flooding.
The structural components and foundations
must be of sufficient stability in order to allow
the product to be anchored securely and func-
tionally. The operator or the supplier is responsi-
ble for the provision of the foundations and their
suitability in terms of dimensions (including the
required clearance around the system), stability
and strength.

5.4. Note on the design

The system must be designed for the maximum
amount of waste water, including a possible peak
inflow. The pumps must be designed for a mini-
mum flow speed of 0.7 m/s in the discharge pipe
(e.g. a minimum of 18.55 m³/h for a DN 100 pipe).
The manometric pump head is calculated from
the maximum geodetic head + pipe friction losses
+ pumping station losses.
