ing instructions (e.g. for adapting the switching
points) are enclosed with the circuit diagram.
6.4.2. Hydrostatic pressure transducer
This version regulates using a pressure meter
in the sensor tip via an integrated converter:
• The pressure increase during the filling process
sends a signal to switch on the pump
• The pressure decrease during the discharging
process sends a signal to switch off the pump.
This produces currents of up to 20 mA. The
integrated converter uses an evaluation relay in
the control cabinet to trigger the set switching
points for the pump. The electrical contacts are
in the control cabinet outside the area at risk of
explosion. The operating instructions (e.g. for
adapting the switching points) are enclosed with
the circuit diagram.
The hydraulic pressure transducer is explo-
sion-protected.
6.4.3. Level controller setting
The level controller is set correctly in the fac-
tory. For the switching points set in the factory,
please see the relevant circuit diagram or system
description.
Check the following:
• If the switching points are set correctly:
• At the OFF switching point, no air is sucked in
through the intake pipe. Otherwise, set the OFF
switching point higher.
• When pumping begins, the shut-off balls in the
solids separation tank do not strike against the
housing. Otherwise, set the ON switching point
higher.
• The sensors function error-free.
• The power cables are laid correctly.
6.5. Excess backup at tank
The emergency overflow can cause too much
water to back up at a tank. This occurs outside
normal operating conditions (e.g. power failure).
Max. permitted excess backup at tank:
• System type MG/MS: 1.5 m above bottom
of  i ntake
• System type FG/FS: 5.0 m above bottom of intake
There must be no excess backup at a tank for
longer than 3 hours otherwise damage could be
caused to the collector tank.

6.6. Start-up

Keep out of the work area of the system.
No persons are allowed in the work area during
start‑up or operation. A radius of 600 mm
around the system must be kept free!
Before switching on for the first time, carry out
the installation according to the "Installation"
section and the relevant assembly plan.
You must also note the instructions for the sepa-
rate components (switching system, pumps, etc.).
You can find information about this in the oper-
ating and maintenance manuals for the individual
components.

A separate switching system is used to operate
and control the waste water pump station. It must
provide necessary functions such as alternate
operation of the pumps, level control and alarm
messages.
6.6.1. Before switching on
Check the following:
• Cable guidance – the cables were laid and
connected according to local regulations.
• The intake, bleeder and discharge pipe are
connected and sealed.
• The level controller and alarm sensors are
connected and set correctly.
• The switching system is protected from flooding
and ready for operation.
• The shut-off valves for the solids separation
tanks are open.
• The operating and maintenance manuals of the
other components were also considered and any
requirements complied with.
6.6.2. After switching on
The rated current of the active pump is briefly ex-
ceeded during the start-up procedure. Once the
start-up procedure has completed, the operating
current may no longer exceed the rated current.
If the pump does not start immediately, the sys-
tem must be switched off without delay. The start
pauses specified in the operating and mainte-
nance manual from the pump manufacturer must
be adhered to before starting up again.
If the fault recurs, the system must be switched
off again immediately and a function test carried
out. The unit may only be restarted once the fault
has been rectified.

6.7. Safety rules during operation

When operating the waste water pump station,
always follow the locally applicable laws and
regulations for work safety, accident prevention
and handling electrical machinery. To help to en-
sure safe working practice, the responsibilities of
employees should be clearly set out by the owner.
All personnel are responsible for ensuring that
regulations are observed.
Individual components have moving parts. During
operation, these parts turn to pump the fluid.
Certain materials in the pumped fluid can cause
very sharp edges to form on the moving parts.
The following should be checked at regular
intervals:
• Operating voltage (permissible deviation
+/-5% of the rated voltage)
• Frequency (permissible deviation +/-2% of the
rated frequency)
• Current consumption (permissible deviation
between phases is a maximum of 5%)
• Voltage difference between the individual
phases (max. 1%)
