INSTALLATION

5.5. Installation
DANGER of falling!
When installing the waste water pump sta-
tion and its accessories, work is sometimes
performed directly at the edge of the basin or
shaft. Carelessness or wearing inappropriate
clothing could result in a fall. There is a risk of
fatal injury! Take all necessary safety precau-
tions to prevent this.
The following information should be taken into
consideration when installing the waste water
pump station:
• This work must be carried out by a qualified
person and electrical work must be carried out
by an electrician.
• Lift the system by the lifting eyelets. If chains are
used, they must be attached to the lifting eyelet
using a shackle. You may only use fastening
devices that have been technically approved and
checked.
• Check that the available planning documentation
(installation plans, layout of the operating area,
intake ratios) is complete and correct.
NOTE
• Before installation, read the operating and
maintenance manuals of the other components
to see if there are any special requirements.
• Never let the pumps run dry because this causes
the pump flow to exit the collector tank and the
system no longer functions correctly. The water
level must never fall below the minimum. Check
that the level controller is set correctly!
• Check whether the cable present is long enough
for its cross-section and its installation type.
(For more information, consult the catalog, the
planning manuals or Wilo customer service).
• Observe all regulations, rules and legal require-
ments for working with and underneath heavy
suspended loads.
• Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment.
• A second person must always be present when
working in shafts. If there is a risk of poisonous
or asphyxiating gases forming, the necessary
precautions must be taken!
• Please also observe the applicable national acci-
dent prevention regulations and trade association
safety provisions.
5.5.1. Unloading horizontally delivered pump stations
To prevent the material from being affected
by excessive tensile and flexural forces, pump
stations of the type MS and FS are delivered
horizontally.
For unloading and transporting these systems,
the following must be adhered to:
1. Preparatory measures
• Place the transport frame (truck or trailer) on
a firm, level surface.
• Secure the 1st lashing device to at least 2 fixing
points (crane eyes) on the shaft cover and on
the 1st lifting device.
Installation and operating instructions Wilo-EMUport FTS MG..., MS..., FG..., FS...
• Secure a 2nd lashing device near the floor of
the shaft and on the 2nd lifting device. The
lashing device must loop around the shaft.
Only use suspension cables as the lashing
devices. Chains can damage parts of the
housing and do not prevent slipping!
The lashing gear must be fixed using movable
lashing points. This allows the lashing gear to
follow the shaft as it is tilted, preventing the
shaft housing from being deformed!
2.
Raising the waste water pump station
• Raise the pump station slowly with both
l ifting devices.
• Ensure that the pump station remains
horizontal.
• Remove the transport frame.
3.
Aligning the waste water pump station vertically
• Using both lifting devices, slowly bring the
pump station into the vertical position.
• Ensure that parts of the housing do not touch
the ground. Because the contact surface is
small, very high point loads are created in the
floor area which can damage the housing, the
inside of the shaft and the parts installed.
4.
Setting down the waste water pump station
• When the pump station is vertical, remove the
lashing gear from the floor of the shaft and
lower the station slowly onto the ground.
• The pump station can now be prepared for
installation in the soil.
5.5.2. Assembly
The prepared waste water pump station must be
installed according to the manufacturer's instruc-
tions. You will have received beforehand exact
details about the operating area requirements.
Observe the assembly plan for installation as well
as the connection of the site pipes.
The intake connection must always be direct
and straight, without any bends!
An electrician must perform the electrical con-
nections as specified in the operating and main-
tenance manuals of the electrical components.
5.5.3. Pumping technology
Depending on the construction, the pumping
technology "solids separation system" requires
the following:
• Alternate operation of the pumps. Parallel
operation of the pumps is not permitted!
• Provision of variable operating time monitoring
(e.g. time relays) of the pumps.
The level controller in the collector tank normally
controls the pump change. If the inflow is too
high, the minimum water level is still sometimes
not reached. There then needs to be a pump
change after a certain time running, regardless
of the water/fill level. When the minimum water/
fill level is reached, the controller goes back into
automatic cycle mode, operating the pumps
alternately.
