Before beginning installation procedures, these In-
stallation and Operating Instructions should be stud-
ied carefully. The installation and operation should
also be in accordance with local regulations and ac-
cepted codes of good practice.
These instructions apply to the pump types DNM and DNP fitted
with GRUNDFOS motors, type MG or MMG. If the pump is fitted
with a motor make other than GRUNDFOS, please note that the
motor data may differ from the data stated in these instructions.
1. Delivery and Handling
1.1 Delivery
The pump is delivered from the factory in a carton with a wooden
bottom, which is specially designed for transport by fork-lift truck
or a similar vehicle.
The following is supplied with the pump:
All types:
Installation and Operating Instructions and lifting
eyes for motors of 4 kW and larger.
In addition:
Pumps fitted with motors up to and including
7.5 kW are fitted with a mounting bracket.
On pumps with motors of 11 kW and larger, the
motor is foot mounted to slide rails.

Large pump motors (4 kW and larger) are supplied
with lifting eyes which must not be used for lifting the

entire pump, e.g. by crane or similar lifting equip-

ment.

Pumps fitted with motors should be lifted by means of nylon

straps and shackles, if required, see fig. 1.

2.1 Impeller Diameter

At the customer's request, the impeller diameter may have been
changed to allow the pump to match a specified duty point. This
means that the actual impeller diameter differs from the standard
diameters stated in sales catalogues, data sheets, etc. and in
these instructions, page 84.
The actual impeller diameter can be found on the pump name-
plate.
3. Applications
GRUNDFOS single-stage end-suction pumps, types DNM and
DNP, are typically used for the following applications:
•
Circulation in heating systems, including district heating.
•
Circulation in ventilating and air-conditioning systems.
•
Circulation and transfer in cooling systems, including cooling
towers.
•
Distribution and pressure boosting in water supply systems.
•
Circulation, transfer and pressure boosting in industrial sys-
tems.
•
Distribution and pressure boosting in irrigation systems.
