8.16 Function stroke

8.16.1 Functional description
• When the "Function stroke" input is set, the gun executes a closing movement
with the selected program parameters without ignition.
• In this way, functions such as tip setting, tip dressing, tip pick-up (changer) can
be realized.
• The function stroke can only be started if the robot outputs the "Control in
Automatic" operating mode.
• The opening of the gun can be controlled by the robot by means of the "Open
gun" input signal
(see also "Command position gun opening dimension valid").
After reaching the target position / the virtual opening dimension, the function
stroke is completed.
• Automatic opening is performed by the combination control when the
programmed welding time has been reached.
• The function stroke uses the sequence parameters of the selected spot (force,
sequence times, speeds) to close the gun with force.
• During the function stroke, the switchover point to the touchdown velocity is
determined on the basis of the electrode parameter "Pre-position at "sheet
search"".
• The gun is opened within the search range with the touchdown velocity if the
spot task is "Mill job", otherwise the positioning velocity of the Weld job is used
for the touchdown.
