3.2.2 System behaviour at the Start

After switching on the control unit and program start
as well as following the return of the power after a
power failure the measuring and regulating system is
in a defined basic state:
The system configuration is loaded as it was preset ex
works or implemented later.
User-defined parameters of a previous process can be
stored and called up again:
− Set values
− Calibration parameters
− Programming (batches)
All controllers are switched off ("off").
Timer sequences (e.g. the order of events of a stored
program) are stopped ("off").
In the case of downtimes, the switch-on behaviour
depends on the outputs and system functions that
have a direct effect on the connected terminal
(controller, timer, etc.) and on the type and duration
of the downtime. The following types of downtime are
differentiated:
− Switching on and off at the "Mains" main switch on
the control unit.
− Downtimes caused by failure of the power supply from
the laboratory connection (power failure).
A maximum duration or "Failtime" for power failures
can be set in the "System Parameters" submenu of the
main "Settings" function.

When the voltage returns after a power failure that
was shorter than "Failtime", the system continues to
work as it was:
The system shows the "Power Failure" error message
with the time of the failure.
Controllers continue to work with the selected set
value.
Timers and set value profiles continue to be worked
through.
If the mains power failure persists longer than the
selected "Failtime", the DCU system behaves as if the
user had switched the device off normally, i.e. it takes
the defined basic state.
After the next restart the alarm message "Power
Failure, Fermentation stopped" then appears (
messages in the Appendix) with details of the date and
time at which the power failure occurred.
