7. Electrical connection
DANGER
Electric shock
Death or serious personal injury
‐
The system must be fitted with an
external supply disconnecting device. Make sure that
the supply disconnecting device can be locked in the
disconnected position [OFF].
‐
If not supplied by Grundfos, the pumps must be
individually fitted with an external supply disconnecting
device.
DANGER
Electric shock
Death or serious personal injury
‐
In case of an insulation fault, the fault current may be
a DC or pulsating DC. Observe national legislation
about requirements for and selection of Residual
Current Device (RCD) when installing the pump.
‐
All electrical installations must comply with EN
60204-1 and local regulations.
‐
Do not make any constructional changes to the
solution.
WARNING
Electric shock
Death or serious personal injury
‐
All electrical connections must be carried out by an
authorised electrician according to local regulations.
WARNING
Electric shock
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Follow the installation and operating instructions for
the pump or pumps and other electrical equipment.
WARNING
Electric shock
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Make sure that any control panels and internal pipe
installations are connected to earth.
7.1 Installing the cables
The cables for the circuit breaker panel are led through a cable
bushing on the side of the solution. Make sure that the cable
connections are waterproof.
Always use flexible cables inside the solution between the pump
and the junction box for resistance to vibration.
7.2 Routing of cables
WARNING
Electric shock
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Make sure that the cables do not touch hot surfaces.
The cables between the power box and the pump or pumps must
be routed in the pre-assembled cable trays or channels.
When installing or removing the pump, do not pinch or
damage the cables.

8. Startup
•
When working in or near an open pit, always place warning
signs and safety guards around the pit to ensure that persons
and vehicles do not fall into the pit. The warning signs must be
clearly marked and visible from all sides.
•
The cover and the locking device must be operated by the same
person.
•
The cover and the locking device must only be used when no
persons are in the pit.
WARNING
Fall hazard
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Before work is performed in the pit, make sure that the
cover has been properly opened and secured against
closing.
‐
Use personal protective equipment when working at
the solution.
WARNING
Risk of sclading
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Make sure that the pipe connections are carried out
according to the pipe manufacturer's instructions
before startup.
WARNING
Fall hazard
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Stand in the pit when you carry out work in the pit.
8.1 Pump startup
The iGRID Pressure and Temperature Zone solutions are delivered
with the pump or pumps installed. See the installation and operating
instructions of the pump for pump startup.
8.2 Filling with district heating water
Make sure that the system is filled with water and vented
before startup.
CAUTION
Hot surface
Minor or moderate personal injury
‐
Use personal protective equipment when working at
the solution.
Before starting up the system, make sure of the following:
•
All valves in the main lines are open.
•
All drain valves are closed.
•
The pump or pumps and the pipe system are filled with water
and vented.
•
The valves before pressure sensors are open, and all closed
valves without connection to units are closed with a plug.
•
All sensors are checked for correct measuring range.
•
All wiring and cable connections are checked for correct
installation with reliefs and seals according to local electrical
codes.
•
The direction of rotation of the pump or pumps is checked.
•
The drainage pump in the drain pit is tested for proper
operation.
Check the following for tightness after startup:
•
Pipe connections, flanges and gaskets.
In case of a leakage, flanges must be retightened and thread
assemblies must be repacked.
