15. PC Connection, Software Installation

The weather station saves up to 1750 complete data sets consisting of measured values and time/date. These are
retained even if the power supply is interrupted (e.g. battery change).
If the memory is full, the oldest data sets are overwritten by new ones.

These data sets can however only be read, adjusted and displayed by a PC. It is not possible to show
the saved values on the weather station display.
The setting of the recording interval from 1 minute to 24 hours for the data sets can only be carried out
using a PC and the software supplied.

a) PC Connection

Connect the "PC/COMPORT" socket (2) of the weather station using the RS232 cable supplied with a free RS232
port on your computer.

Windows recognises no new hardware. This is normal when using RS232.
If your PC has no COM port (refer to the operating instruction of your PC), a computer accessories
supplier can provide you with a USB-RS232-Converter/-Adapter. These allow you to connect a RS232
device to a USB port.
Unfortunately there are numerous different products on the market, thus we cannot guarantee that
reading the weather station data via such an adapter is possible in connection with the software
provided.

b) Software installation

Place the supplied CD in the corresponding drive in your computer (Windows operating system reqd. e.g. Windows
XP).
If the installation program doesn't start automatically, open the file manager and start the installation program in the
CDs main folder (e.g. "Autorun.exe").
Click in the upper third in "Click to install HeavyWeatherPro PC Software" on the box with the languages "English/
Français/Deutsch/Italiano" and then select the desired language, follow all the software instructions.
Following this, a new symbol should appear on the desktop ("HeavyWeather Pro 3600").
Please refer to the extensive software help file for further information.

c) Select the COM port in the software

You must select the COM port that the weather station is connected to. Otherwise no connection will be made
between the software and the weather station.
If in doubt simply try all available COM ports out one after another within the software (menu item "Extras", click
"Options" and select the COM port under "Interface").
