12. Installation/Setup

The maximum radio signal range for the sensors is 100m (see "Technical Data"). This is however the so-called "free-
field range", i.e. the maximum range in direct line of sight between the transmitter (sensor) and receiver (weather
station).
This ideal configuration is of course not particularly realistic, as furniture, walls, windows or plants may be positioned
between the sensors and the weather station.
Further strong interference can be caused by proximity to metal, electrical or electronic devices or cables.
Ferrocement ceilings, metal buffered insulated glass windows or other devices on the same transmission frequency
can also cause problems.
As a rule, however, operation in the direct environs of a house is normally easily possible.
Before you permanently mount the sensors and drill the holes for mounting, you should test for clear
reception for a short period of time.
If no temperature/air humidity sensor is recognised, the weather station displays the text "THERMO TX
OUT OF RANGE" in the lower part of the display.
If the rain sensor is not recognised, then the text "RAIN TX OUT OF RANGE" appears.

a) Mounting Temperature/Air Humidity Sensor

The attachment site for the temperature/air humidity sensor should be selected so that the sensor is
protected from rain (i.e. under a roof awning) as the sensor will not measure air temperature otherwise.
The sensor must not be subjected to direct sunlight (the measured value will be incorrect as it will be
influenced by sunlight).
When mounting the temperature/air humidity sensor, take into account the wind sensor mounting, as
it must be connected by cable to the temperature/air humidity sensor.
First mount the holder on a wall, for example. Use the
appropriate screws and fittings depending on the wall type.
Pay attention when drilling/tightening the screws that no
power, gas or water pipes can be damaged!
Two slits in the holder can be used to connect it to pipes etc
using cable ties.
Insert the sensor in the holder as shown in the figure on the
right.
Then ensure that you place the protective cap on the top of the
sensor. Ensure that the cap is fully attached, as this is the only
way to protect the socket of the connection cable to the wind
sensor. The round tip of the sensor must be inserted in the
respective protective cap.
Furthermore, the cable can be inserted into the protective cap
from behind, so that it exits on the back side close to the holder.
It can then be attached to the holder using cable ties.
