10. Initial Operation

Please observe the correct order of proceedings when commencing operation. This is the only
way to guarantee completely correct function.
The weather station only saves the identification codes of the sensors at initial operation. For this
reason, please proceed as follows, as otherwise the sensors may not be recognised!
Before you permanently mount the exterior sensors, we recommend carrying out a function test of all
the devices (i.e. in your house).
Don't place the devices directly next to one another for the test, maintain a distance of at least 50 cm;
as otherwise the sensors may influence one another.
Maintain an appropriate distance from electronic devices, pieces of metal or cables.
1. Remove the temperature/air humidity sensor protective cap (6). Then connect the wind sensor plug to the
corresponding socket (7) on the temperature/air humidity sensor.
2. Insert two AA/Mignon batteries in the correct polarity into the temperature/air humidity sensor battery
compartment (8) (observe positive/+ and negative/-). Replace the battery compartment lid.
3. Open the battery compartment (10) on the underside of the rain sensor, remove the screw for the battery
compartment lid. Insert two AA/Mignon batteries in the correct polarity into the rain sensor battery compartment
(observe positive/+ and negative/-). Replace the lid of the battery compartment again and screw it down firmly.
4. Then insert three AA/Mignon batteries in the correct polarity into the weather station battery compartment (5).
Alternatively, the mains power supply unit provided can be used. Connect the round low voltage plug to the
corresponding connector (1) on the weather station, insert the mains supply plug in an appropriate mains supply
socket (230V~/50Hz).
If batteries are nonetheless inserted, these serve as backup batteries in the case of a power failure.
5. All display segments appear briefly, then the weather station attempts to find the sensors. The sensors symbol
"
" flashes on the right next to the exterior air humidity.
If data does not appear in the display within 2-3 minutes (e.g. exterior air temperature/air humidity) then remove
all batteries and begin again from step 2.
If no temperature/air humidity sensor is recognised, the weather station displays the text "THERMO TX
OUT OF RANGE" in the lower part of the display.
If the rain sensor is not recognised, then the text "RAIN TX OUT OF RANGE" appears.
6. The wind sensor can be tested by turning the wind flag and the wind wheel, the rain sensor can be tested by tipping
it back and forth to move the rocker inside it. The display should change accordingly (wait for the display to
update, this takes 30-60 seconds).
7. After the sensors are recognised, the station attempts to receive the DCF time signal. See the next chapter
(Chapter 11) for details.
8. After checking the components the sensors can be mounted, see Chapter 12.
