9. Initial Operation

a) General information
If you want to try the product out e.g. in a room when you first use it, you should not place the
weather station and outdoor sensor directly next to each other. Otherwise, there might be
reception problems due to radio interference. Maintain a distance of at least 0.5m between the
devices.
This function test makes sure that later reception problems can be attributed to the arrangement
of weather station and outdoor sensor(s).
The range in free field is up to 30m (without any sources of interference, direct view between
outdoor sensor and weather station). The effectively achievable range in buildings is, of
course, smaller and is approx. 10-20m, depending on the design and installation location.


b) Inserting batteries into the outdoor sensor and weather station


Please proceed stepwise as described.
1. Open the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor by removing the screw (23) of the
battery compartment lid (22).
2. Choose one of the three transmission channels (1,2 or 3) with the "CHANNEL" sliding
switch in the battery compartment. When only using one sensor, the channel should be
set to 1. If more than one sensor is used, then each one should be assigned its own
channel.

It is imperative that you set the transmission channel before inserting the batteries.
If not, switching to another channel will not be recognised.
3. Insert two type Micro/AAA batteries with correct polarity into the battery compartment of
the outdoor sensor (observe positive/+ and negative/-). You will find the corresponding
illustration in the battery compartment.
As already mentioned, we recommend high-quality alkaline batteries. Especially in cold
outdoor temperatures, these provide better reserves than simple zinc/carbon batteries or
rechargeable batteries.
After you insert the batteries, all display segments appear for a few seconds, then the first
measured values for temperature and humidity will be displayed.
