TRIPOD APPLICATIONS: The following rescue applications describe use with the product when it is secured to a
tripod.
;
You must use the hand winch accessory when using the product with a tripod.
;
Always position the rescue device as directly above the user as possible. Keep the user upright during use.
1.
SINGLE-PERSON DESCENT: A single user may connect to the rescue device to descend to a lower platform. To
perform a single-person descent:
a.
Connect to the user's full body harness. Secure the Lifeline Connector (C) to the Sternal D-ring (S) or
Dorsal D-ring (D) on the user's harness. For more information, see the manufacturer instructions of your
harness.
b.
Prepare the lifeline for descent. Remove all slack from the length of lifeline between the secured user
and the rescue device. To tighten, pull on the free end of the lifeline until all slack is removed. Hold the free
end of the lifeline taut as you prepare to lower the secured user.
c.
Complete the descent. Descent will be controlled manually by the attendant. To lower the user, the
attendant should first unlock the Brake Lever (L) of the brake handle, then rotate the Hand Winch Crank (H)
counterclockwise. The attendant may interrupt descent at any time by stopping rotation. To adjust the speed
of descent, the attendant may decrease or increase the speed at which they rotate the crank.
2.
LIFTING: It may be necessary to raise a fall victim to remove their connecting subsystem before a rescue can
be performed. To raise a fall victim:
;
After raising the victim to a safe location, it may be necessary to perform a single-person or two-person
descent to bring the victim to safety.
a.
Lower or raise the lifeline to the victim. Position the Lifeline Connector (C) adjacent to the connection
point on the victim's harness. Use the Hand Winch Crank (H) to adjust positioning of the lifeline. To raise the
lifeline, rotate the crank clockwise. To lower the lifeline, unlock the Brake Lever (L) of the brake handle, then
rotate the crank counterclockwise.
b.
Connect the fall victim to the rescue device. Secure the Lifeline Connector (C) to the Sternal D-ring (S)
or Dorsal D-ring (D) on the victim's harness.
c.
Raise the victim to safety. Before raising the fall victim, release the brake lever of the brake handle to
allow it to return to its locked position. To raise the victim, the attendant should rotate the crank clockwise.
