4.2 Connection to the Electrosurgery Unit maxium
NOTICE
The bipolar sealing instrument marSeal 5 with sterile blade holder is intended solely for use
with the electrosurgery unit maxium
042-04-04, Type ME 402) from software version V2.360 or new developments by
Gebrüder Martin. Use its connection cable to connect it to the appropriate bipolar output B1 or
B2 of the electrosurgery unit.
The bipolar sealing instrument marSeal 5 IQ can be used only with the electrosurgery unit
®
maxium from hardware version HW 06 and from software version V3.400 or new
developments by Gebrüder Martin.
The current SealSafe

4.2.1 Procedure with the Current SealSafe
Connect the connection cable of the marSeal 5 to the bipolar HF output B1 or B2 of the

For the current SealSafe
A coagulation degree setting of 4 is recommended. However, this setting can be varied
over a range of 1 to 9. At the same power setting, the higher the coagulation degree, the
stronger the resulting coagulation effect will be. The sealing current can be activated with
the footswitch. A higher power setting can cause a decreased sealing effect due to the
reduction of the sealing time to the automatic deactivation of the current.
4.2.2 Procedure with the Current SealSafe
Connect the connection cable of the marSeal 5 IQ to the bipolar HF output B1 or B2 of the

current type with the G3 factory default settings.
The power setting is selected in gradation levels (G grades). The power setting can be varied
from G1 to G5. The switch-off impedance and sealing time increase with increasing G level.
If a footswitch is desired for activating the sealing current, this switch must be selected
separately.
