Technical Product Description
The bipolar sealing instrument marSeal 5 is intended solely for use with the electrosurgery unit
®
maxium
(REF 80-042-00-04, REF 80-042-02-04 and REF 80-042-04-04, Type ME 402) from
software version V2.360 or new developments by Gebrüder Martin. Use its connection cable to
connect it to the appropriate bipolar output B1 or B2 of the electrosurgery unit.
The bipolar sealing instrument marSeal 5 IQ can be used only with the electrosurgery unit

from hardware version HW 06 and from software version V3.400 or new
developments by Gebrüder Martin.

Permanent occlusion is possible for vessels up to 7 mm in diameter. For large vessels a double,
side-by-side seal is recommended. Using the integrated blade of the blade holder, this can
then be cut in the middle.
The instrument's maximum sealing length is 17 mm, of which approx. 13 mm are cut.

Gebrüder Martin guarantees a minimum of approx. 50 reprocessing cycles for the bipolar
sealing instrument marSeal 5. The instrument is equipped with a cycle counter for this purpose
(see section 5.7 "Cycle Counter", page 70), which allows you to indicate the number of
reprocessing cycles already completed.
With every application, the wear of the instrument progresses. For approx. 50 application
cycles and with an average application frequency and load, the safe functioning of the
instrument can be guaranteed. The manufacturer, Gebrüder Martin, recommends to stop
using the instrument after this time and replace it to ensure safe and secure operation.

The interaction of mechanical pressure (p) and coagulation induced by
high-frequency current (I) creates a reliably and permanently sealed
zone on arteries, veins and tissue bundles. It is imperative that the
pressure be constantly maintained throughout the entire application
period.
