TROUBLESHOOTING
Symptom
The tape operation buttons do not work.
The PLAY/PAUSE and F FWD/F SKIP buttons
do not work.
The REC, RENUMBER, ID MARK or ID ERASE
buttons do not function.
The tape does not run.

During tape operation, the CAUTION indicator
appears and operation stops.
Recording cannot be made.
Recording or playback cannot be done.
It takes a long time to search for a track.
Renumbering of PROGRAM NO. cannotbe done
correctly.
Searching function is not possible
even when the START ID is displayed.
In the search function, playback starts from the
middle of the track.
The KEY HOLD switch is set to KEY HOLD (toward
you).
While registering START ID (approx. 9 sec.), only
the STOP/EJECT button works.
The tape is rewound to the end.
The safety tab of the cassette is open.
The recorder is in the pause mode. (The PLAY
indicator blinks.)
The cassette is not set correctly in the cassette
holder.
There is something wrong with the cassette shell or
it is warped.
The safety tab is open.
The recording level is turned down completely.
The INPUT selector is set to the incorrect position.
The setting of the analog input selector is
incorrect.
The connections are incorrect.
There are unrecorded portions in the tape.
START ID is registered for less than 9 seconds.
The !D MARK
button has been pressed at an
interval of less than 18 seconds.
START ID is registered in the middle of the track.
If the recorder does not work correctly or the indicators do not appear normal, set
the POWER switch to OFF and remove the battery from the recorder.
Then
connect the AC adaptor, set the POWER switch to PB and operate the recorder.

Solution
Set it to the opposite position.
Operate after the registration of START ID is
complete.
Press the REW/B SKIP button to rewind
the tape.

Slide in the safety tab to close (page 28).
Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to release the
pause mode.
Remove the cassette and then insert it.again.
Replace the cassette.
Slide in the tab to close (page 28).
Adjust the recording level with the REC LEVEL
controls (for analog recording).
Set it to the correct position.
Set it to the correct position.
Make the correct connections.
When recording, use the AARS function so that
no unrecorded portions are contained in the tape
(page 28).
Erase START ID and register it again.
When registering START !D with the ID MARK
button, leave an interval of at least 18 seconds
between two START ID codes (page 48).
Erase START ID and register it again (page 49).
