For contact-less ignition of the arc, the high-frequency ignition units are built as
standard in the REHM INVERTIG.PRO COMPACT units. The high-frequency
ionises the gap between the tungsten electrode and the work piece in such a
way that the arc can jump across. A higher oxide proportion in the tungsten
electrode or a closer gap to the work piece have a positive effect on the ignition
behaviour.
When direct and alternating current welding, the arc is able to be ignited by the
built-in program controller even without high-frequency. This is how it works:
The HF setting is set to "Off", the tungsten electrode is touched to the work
piece, then the torch button pressed and the electrode lifted from the work piece
by tipping the torch over the gas nozzle. Ignition of the arc without high-frequency
is of benefit when, for example, welding in hospitals or repairing electronically
controlled machines when a disruptions may be caused to controls as a result of
by high-frequency ignition units.
REHM TIG units are, thanks to their fast and precise regulation dynamics, ideal
current sources for electrode welding. The current level and polarity to be set is
specified by the electrode manufacturers. When welding basic electrodes, plus
pole welding is to be used.
