Polarity

With the press button [23] you can select the polarity, direct current minus pole
(DC), alternating current (AC), direct current plus pole (DC) and dual wave, the
display LEDs [24] show the selected polarity by lighting up.
When electrode welding, you must remember that for all INVERTIG.PRO
COMPACT DC welding units, the upper output socket is always the minus pole.
The electrode holder should be connected to the output socket and set according
to the instructions of the electrode manufacturer.
3.9.1

Direct current minus pole (-)

When TIG welding with direct current minus pole, the upper output socket is the
minus pole for the TIG torch. When TIG welding with direct current, this is the
normal setting used for welding.
When MMA welding, the electrode holder is also connected to the upper output
socket. With the direct current minus pole setting, the electrode is welded with
minus pole. When MMA welding, the polarity of the electrode depends on the
type of electrode selected (note the specifications made by the electrode
manufacturer).
3.9.2

Alternating current (~)

When welding with alternating current, the polarity of the output sockets
constantly switches from positive to negative polarity. When TIG and MMA
welding, the torch or electrode holder are usually connected to the upper output
socket. Using alternating current enables aluminium and aluminium alloys to be
welded. When MMA welding, the frequency is automatically set to 50 Hz and the
balance to 50%. MMA welding with alternating current has the advantage that it
avoids arc blow.
3.9.3

Direct current plus pole (+)

When TIG welding with direct current plus pole, the upper output socket is the
plus pole for the TIG torch.
When TIG welding with direct current plus pole, the electrode experiences very
high thermal loads which can lead to melting of the electrode and cause
damages even at very low currents.
When MMA welding, the electrode holder is also connected to the upper output
socket. With the direct current plus pole setting, the electrode is welded with plus
pole. When MMA welding, the polarity of the electrode depends on the type of
electrode selected (note the specifications made by the electrode manufacturer).
3.9.4

Dual Wave (=/~)

The REHM Dual Wave procedure is a combination of alternating current and
direct current welding. During welding, the processor controller switches
automatically between 0.2 seconds of direct current and 0.3 seconds of
alternating current. The selected values for the welding current I
frequency and the balance are taken into account as with pure direct or
alternating current welding.
The Dual Wave procedure enables better control of the welding bath and,
particularly in difficult welding positions, when welding work pieces of differing
