The owner is also required
• to provide the personal protective equipment (PPE): safety footwear, gloves, goggles,
mask, suit.
• to conduct a constant hazard assessment of the workplaces, including consideration for
hazardous substances and fire protection. This also includes handling hot components
(please note that they cool slowly).
• to incorporate the measures into operating instructions and to instruct personnel
accordingly;
• to provide safe access to operator stations (which are a metre or more off the ground),
and to erect scaffolding, if necessary;
• to guarantee training for operating personnel;
• to ensure that standard operating procedures are compiled;
• to ensure that there is no other person located within the danger areas (crushing points)
during operation;
• to provide the proscribed number and size of safety equipment, such as suitable
handheld fire extinguishers, in easily accessible places.
• to provide suitable workplace lighting in accordance with ASR 7/3.
• to make regular checks to ensure that tripping hazards are marked.

model no. appears on the cover page. The rating plate and model no. can be found on the
side of the unit.

Lighting:
The owner must provide an adequate and consistent level of lighting throughout all the
areas of the system. Lighting levels of 300 lux (500 lux at inspection stations) are
recommended, depending on the area of the plant (maintenance value; in Germany:
ASR 7/3).
Personnel must receive safety training at least once a year (and at the start of their
appointment) on hazards and the safety measures, with reference to the operating
instructions. Signed confirmation is required that training has been given (TRGS 555
(Technical Rules on Hazardous Substances)).
