10.2 API / DLL programming interface

The abbreviation API stands for "Application Programming Interface" and de-
signates so-called programming interfaces. Programmers can directly access
functions of other programs via APIs and use these in their own programs.
With the API, you have full access to all espressoDAQ functions through an
individually programmed application, e.g. your own operator interface.
The API can be used in the form of programming libraries in .NET or COM
technologies. The libraries allow separate applications to be created in pro-
gramming languages such as Visual Basic, C++, C# or Delphi. Functions
such as communication connection, configuration of measurement channels,
implementation of measurements and troubleshooting are components of the
library.
The API can be easily installed from the espressoDAQ system CD.
The "espressoDAQ .Net and ActiveX API" installation package covers not only
the actual installation, but also:
 the installation of the "HBM espressoDAQ USB driver"
 the installation of "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable" and
 the installation of the "Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 Runtime" (if this is not
yet installed on your computer).
When you uninstall "espressoDAQ .Net and ActiveX API", these additional in-
stallation packages are not automatically removed from your system!
If necessary, you must remove these packages manually (using the control
panel/software).
Once "espressoDAQ .Net and ActiveX API" is installed, the links to the docu-
mentation and the examples can be reached via the Windows Start menu (de-
fault: "Start/Programs/HBM/HBM espressoDAQ API").
The "Examples" link includes executable sample programs and associated
projects, both for .Net (2005 and later) and for Visual Basic (6.0), which use
the API functions by way of example and give fast access to the basic library
functions.
