Note:
If your water hardness is either 4 or
5, we strongly recommend you change
to an alternate water source. Filtered,
bottled spring or low-mineral water will
extend both the life of your built-in filter
and descale intervals as well as superi-
or taste. Please ensure to test the water
hardness of the alternative water source
you've chosen and input the measured
value into the Espresso Machine accor-
dingly. See: ›Water Hardness (Hrd)‹.
Avoid using overly filtered water, like
RO water unless some mineral content
is being added back to the final water.
Never use distilled water, or water with
no or low mineral content as this will
affect both the taste and the functioning
of your Espresso Machine.

Filling the Boilers

After setting the water hardness, a pum-
ping/vibrating sound will be heard indi-
cating empty boilers are being filled with
water for the first time. The main LCD dis-
play will display the current boiler tempe-
rature and flash "HEATING".

After approximately 5 minutes, the Espres-
so Machine will reach the default ope-
rating temperature 93°C and all 6 but-
tons and dials will illuminate. The Espresso
Machine is now in standby mode, ready
for the next step.
Before first use, you should operate the
Espresso Machine without coffee powder
to flush and heat the group head. Refer to
the following section ›Flushing the Espresso
Machine‹.

Flushing the Espresso Machine

WARNING – Risk of Burns!

cate object under or near the group head,
steam wand, or hot water outlet, while the
appliance is in operation. Hot water and
steam can escape and cause severe inju-
ries and damage.
Perform the following steps, when the
Espresso Machine is in standby mode:
1. Press 2 CUP button to run water
through the group head for 30
seconds.
2. Press the HOT WATER button to run
water through the hot water outlet.
After 20 seconds, press HOT WATER
button again to stop the flow of water.
3. Lift steam lever to the MANUAL positi-
on to release steam through the steam
wand. After 30 seconds, lower the
steam lever to the centre position to
switch off steam.
