6.7 Adjusting the braking force – drum brake (Fig. 50)
The braking force is adjusted using the adjustment screw (Fig. 50, item A) to achieve optimal
braking effect. The braking force is increased by turning the screw counter-clockwise and de-
creased by turning the screw clockwise.
Loosen the counter nut (Fig. 50, item B) and turn the adjustment screw counter-clockwise until
you hear a scraping noise when the wheel turns. Then tighten the adjustment screw until the
scraping noise disappears. Then the wheel should turn freely.
After finishing the adjustment, secure the adjustment screw by tightening the counter nut (Fig. 50,
item B).
Ensure that the braking force of both rear wheels is adjusted equally.

Note that the drum brake engages with sufficient force only when the manual brake

lever is set to the second ratchet position.
6.8 Tension-adjustable seat upholstery (Fig. 51)
If the seat fabric has stretched due to extended use, the upholstery can be re-adjusted to res-
tore optimal pressure distribution of the thighs.
First loosen the hook-and-loop connection on the bottom side of the seat upholstery. Retighten
the upholstery and secure this position using the hook-and-loop fastener.
Unfold the wheelchair. The cross brace must be seated fully in the support guides.
