WARNING
Risk of falling due to incorrect anti-tipper adjustment. If only one attendant is available when as-
cending or descending stairs, an incorrectly set anti-tipper (if mounted) can lead to severe falls. First
adjust the anti-tipper so that it cannot collide with the steps during transportation. Subsequently, the
anti-tipper must be readjusted correctly.
WARNING
Risk of falling due to incorrect lifting. Attendants must lift the wheelchair only by parts that are firmly
attached (e.g. not at the footrest or rear wheels). If your wheelchair is equipped with height-adjustable
push handles, ensure that the clamp levers are always firmly tightened.
WARNING
Risk of tipping when using lifting platforms. Ensure that the anti-tipper (if installed) is outside the
danger zone.
Hazards when getting in
CAUTION
Risk of injury when getting in using the footplate. If possible, the footplates should be flipped up
before getting into or out of the wheelchair.
Hazards while driving
CAUTION
Risk of accidents when driving without experience. This can lead to falls and other dangerous situ-
ations. Practise using the wheelchair on level, straightforward terrain first. With secure support from
an assistant, make yourself familiar with the effects of centre of gravity shifts on wheelchair behaviour,
for example on slopes or inclines, under various tilt conditions or when overcoming obstacles. Using
an anti-tipper is strongly recommended for inexperienced wheelchair users.
CAUTION
Risk of tipping when negotiating excessive slopes. Always lean your upper body far forward when
negotiating slopes, obstacles on slopes or ramps.
CAUTION
Risk of tilting or tipping over as a result of centre of gravity shifts.
• When reaching for objects in front, to the side, or behind the wheelchair, the wheelchair user must
take care not to lean out of the wheelchair too far.
• Prior to activities that require you to bend forward in the wheelchair (e.g. tying your shoes), maximi-
se the stability of the wheelchair. In order to do so, push the wheelchair backwards until the caster
wheels turn forward.
CAUTION
Risk of tipping when driving against obstacles without reducing speed (steps, curbs). Use your
wheelchair only as specified. Do not "jump" the chair down from higher surfaces.
