Insert four fingers into the spokes close to the hub of the rear wheel and press the button on the
quick-release axle with your thumb. You can then easily pull off the rear wheel (Fig. 5). Follow
the corresponding procedure when remounting.
Risk of accident. During assembly, confirm that all bolts engage in the corresponding
CAUTION
bore holes and that the quick-release axles of the rear wheels and casters securely lock into
their axle housings. The rear wheels and casters must not be removable unless the button is
pressed! Check the function of the wheel locks/brakes.

4.1 Transfer

Transfer into the wheelchair is described below. The Avantgarde is designed for persons who
normally move around in the wheelchair independently. Therefore, the independent transfer is
described. Should you require an attendant, the steps described here are carried out corres-
pondingly but with support.
Manoeuvre the wheelchairs so that they are positioned at an angle of approx. 45° degrees to
each other (Figure 6). Ensure that the wheel locks do not get caught in each other but remain
freely movable. First activate the wheel locks of the wheelchair that is currently in use (Fig. 7).
Then activate the wheel locks of the wheelchair you want to transfer into (Fig. 8). Flip up the foot-
plate (Fig. 9). Move your feet from the footplate to the floor and shift forwards in the wheelchair
if required (Fig. 10).
