use the appliance on a sink drain board. Do not place the appliance on or near
a hot gas or electric burner, or where it could touch a heated oven.
• The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or
separate remote control system.
• Do not use attachments other than those provided with the appliance. The use of
accessory attachments not recommended by Gastroback may result in fire, elec-
tric shock or injury to persons.
• Do not attempt to operate the appliance by any method other than those descri-
bed in this book.
• Use only cold, tap water in the water tank. Do no use any other liquid. Do not
use any harsh chemicals and descalers for descaling (see ›Care and Cleaning‹).
• Never use the appliance without water in the water tank. When inserting the filled
water tank and when removing the drip tray full care not to spill the water con-
tained. NOTE: Make sure when inserting the water tank, that the guide grooves
on the back of the water tank are engaged in the recesses in the rear of the
appliance. Press the water tank down so that the water valve opens in the bottom
of the water tank.
• Ensure the portafilter is firmly inserted and secured into the grouphead before
using the machine.
• Never remove the portafilter during the brewing operation as the machine is
under pressure.
• Do not move the appliance whilst in operation.
• Do not leave any food dry on the appliance. Always clean the appliance after
each use to prevent a build up of baked-on foods (See: ›Care and Cleaning‹).
Always keep the appliance and the accessories clean.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners or cleaning pads (e.g. metal scouring pads) for
cleaning. Do not clean the appliance with any corrosive chemicals (e.g. bleach).
Do not immerse the appliance or power cord in water or any other liquid. Do not
spill or drip any liquids on the appliance or on the power cord to avoid risk of fire
and electric shock. When liquids are spilled in the appliance, immediately switch
off, unplug the power cord and wait for the appliance to cool down. Thereafter,
clean and dry the appliance thoroughly (See: ›Care and Cleaning‹).
• Do not leave the appliance unattended when in use.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. Allow the appliance to cool
down before moving or cleaning any parts.
• Do not place anything, other than cups for warming, on top of the the appliance.
