You can control the water flow, by pressing the coffee powder when filling more or
less firmly. You may be able to grind the coffee too coarse or fine.

INFORMATION ABOUT GROUND COFFEE

If you are using ready ground coffee, then make sure that the ground coffee is sui-
table for espresso/cappuccino machines. If you grind the coffee, then the powder
should not be too coarse and not too fine. This will affect the speed with which the
water is forced through the powder and ultimately determine the quality of your cof-
fee.
• If the coffee is ground too fine (the coffee is like icing sugar and feels like flour
between your fingers) then the water can not flow through the powder under pres-
sure. The coffee is characterized dark and bitter and the crema is stained.
• If the coffee is ground too coarse, the water flows through too quickly and the fla-
vors remain in the coffee powder. The coffee is watery and bland.

TAMPING THE COFFEE

Once you have filled the right amount of coffee powder into the filter, you must press
the ground coffee evenly as possible. To do this, use the flat bottom of the spoon.
The coffee must be very firmly pressed.
• If you press the coffee too hard, the water flows too slowly through the powder.
The coffee is dark and bitter.
• If you press the ground coffee too little, then the water flows through too quickly
and the flavors remain in the coffee powder. The coffee is watery and bland.

ENERGY SAVING FEATURES

The appliance will enter the ›Power Save Mode‹, if not used for 30 minutes.

CARE AND CLEANING

Regular and careful maintenance is very important for the performance, life and reli-
ability of your appliance.
• Never clean the appliance, the appliance parts and accessories in the dish-
washer.
Daily cleaning:
