day or when you see that the drip tray is full). Especially when the drip tray is
full, be careful not to spill the contents while pulling out.
WARNING:
If liquids have run over or under the appliance, then pull the power
cord immediately and dry the liquid with a clean towel before putting the appliance
into operation again.
2. Remove the rust from the drip tray.

parts thoroughly thereafter.
ASSEMBLING THE APPLIANCE
Follow the following instructions to insert all parts after cleaning the appliance.
1. Place the stainless steel rack onto the drip tray. Grasp the drip tray on both sides
and slide the drip tray in the front of the appliance into the appliance base.
2. Insert the water tank. You can lift the tank by the open lid. Make sure that the
guide grooves on the back of the water tank are engageed in the cutouts in the
rear. Press the tank down so that the water valve opens in the bottom of the
water tank.
Note:
While pressing down the water tank you will see that the valve cover opens
upwards.
DESCALING THE WATER TANK
During regular use of the appliance calcium deposits can build up in the water tank
and in the engine, and restrain water flow. Besides, due to calcification the consump-
tion of the energy increases and quality of the coffee is impaired. For prevention of
severe calcification, we recommend that you descale the machine regularly, taking
into account the degree of hardness of your water. Here, the use of gentle descaler,
that does not affect any metal, is important. Please use for decalcifying only the Gas-
troback Premium Descaler (Art. No.: 98175). This Descaler contains special metal
gentle additives and is matched to the components used in our machines. Using
the Gastroback Premium Descaler a mixture of 50 ml descaler and max. 750 ml of
water is recommended. Due to the differences of water hardness and we can not
make any precise specifications on the frequency on the decalcifying. The following
table is a non-binding recommendation and is for guidance only.
