8.4. Adjust the Extruder Feeding Wheel Pressure
You can adjust the feeding wheel pressure according to different material needs.
While working with different materials, please make sure that your pressure wheel
is set right. As a too high pressure could affect not only a compressed part of the
filament before being fed into the hotend, but could also have a higher chance to
transfer the temperatures to the filament. For most of the materials it doesn't have
a big effect, but for materials like ProHT, PLA, PLX and PET- materials a wrong pres-
sure setting may affect a clogged nozzle. As the material could get weak too early,
before being pushed through the nozzle it could be jolt inside the hotend and clogs
the cold-end-side.
To make sure you have the right pressure please follow those steps:
1. Please unload the filament.
2. Turn the black idler wheel on the left side (d) and on the right side (g) com-
pletely in (clockwise). (See Fig. 8-4)
3. Mark the top part in that idler wheel with a white marker. (You need to count
the turns.)
4. Turn counterclockwise. (Number of turns according to the table below.)
5. Load the filament into the extruder by pulling the lever ((a) for T1, (h) for T0) to
release the filament pressure and put it into the hotend.
6. Check flowrate again and make a flowrate calibration, after having done those
settings. & Chap. 7.2
For different materials you have to use different pressure settings:
Note: Point 1 is the point that you have to make a white mark on it when you have
completely turn in clockwise the black feeding wheel screw and then make a mark
on the top.
