Operation and Control
7.1. Safety
WARNING – Risk of burns
The machine must never be used without the print bed tape covering the print
bed. Risk of burns! In case of burns consult a doctor immediately!
WARNING – Risk of burns
Danger due to hot surface. Avoid contact with hot surfaces, liquids and gases.
The device may only be operated when fully assembled. If this is not the case, the
safety of personnel and machinery cannot be guaranteed and the operational li-
cense shall be invalidated.
Only print on a free print bed. Printing on objects is not permitted and can result in
damage to the machine as well as fire hazards!
Danger of stumbling due to cables, floor irregularities or parts lying around. Clean
up the work space after every use.
7.2. Preparing the Printer / Calibration
To achieve a good print image, various calibration steps are required.
› With the flowrate calibration you achieve the perfect flowrate.
› Z-calibration is used to correctly set the distance between the extruder (nozzle)
and the print bed. An incorrect distance leads to errors in the first print layer.
› The X-Y-Calibration prepares your machine for dual extrusion prints.
You have to do the calibration every time you change the extruder or hotend and
after any relocation of the printer. It can also be done if the offset between the noz-
zles is recognized as incorrect while using dual extrusion.
Order of the calibration steps
In order to calibrate the printer right, there is a <<<<<recommended order for the
different steps of calibration, so that you save time and make it the right way. This
order is as follows:
1. Bed Levelling ( & Chap. 5.4 Levelling the Print Bed)
2. Flowrate Calibration ( & Base Flowrate Multiplier next page)
3. Z-Calibration (in case you see gaps inbetween the lines, you can now be sure
that it doesn't come from a set wrong flowrate, but you know, that the Z-height
is too high) ( & Setting the Extruder Z Offsets next page)
4. X-Y Calibration ( & Setting the Extruder Z Offsets next page)
