The Child Seat should be mounted as far forward as possible to keep the weight centralized. Mounting the Child
Seat too far behind the Rear Wheel axis may cause the Front Wheel to lift off the ground unintentionally (2.E).
Always thoroughly check the balance. Mount the Child Seat and load it with a dummy
weight equivalent to that of the child. Test ride in various road conditions including riding
uphill and make sure the front wheel does not have tendency to lift off the ground.
WARNING: Do not mount or attach the Child Seat to the seatpost, or any
other part of the frame that is not approved for child seat mounting.
Safety and Precautions
• Children – regardless of age – should be strong enough to hold up their
head and withstand the bouncing that comes with riding.
• Check for sufficient heel clearance. Heel clearance varies with
the rider's foot size and the child's leg length.
• Make sure the Child Seat is properly mounted in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
• Make sure the maximum gross vehicle weight is not exceeded (Appendix A).
• Never allow children to climb onto the Pedelec by themselves unless an adult is steadying the bike.
• Always hold onto your Pedelec when a child is in the Child Seat
to prevent the Pedelec and child from falling over.
• Periodically check on your child while riding as they may fall asleep.
Don't let their head strain excessively to one side.
• Do not leave children on the Pedelec with the kickstand down. This can damage
the kickstand and the kickstand mount on the Pedelec frame.
DANGER: Never, ever, ever leave children unattended on the back of the Pedelec, even if it is on the
kickstand. Wriggling children can upset the balance of the bike and a fall may result in serious injuries.
WARNING:  Make sure that your child always wears an approved bicycle helmet when riding.

2. Safety

2.A. Basics
WARNING: The area where you ride may require specific safety devices. It is your
responsibility to familiarize yourself with local laws and comply with them.

fig. 1
2.A.1.
Always wear a cycling helmet that meets the latest certification standards and is
appropriate for the type of riding you do (fig. 1). Always follow the helmet manufacturer's
instructions for fit, use and care of your helmet. Most serious bicycle injuries involve head
injuries that might have been avoided if the rider had worn an appropriate helmet.
DANGER: Failure to wear a helmet when riding may result in serious injury or death.
2.A.2.
Always do the Mechanical Safety Check (1.D) before you get on a bike.
