3.I. Transport
3.I.1. Public Transportation
Pedelecs can generally be transported on trains and public transportation, like conventional bicycles.
Check with the rail or public transport operator for specific requirements:
• Some operators require you to pre-book a space and buy a separate ticket for the Pedelec.
• Some allow travel with your Pedelec only during off-peak hours.
• Some require a cover to be placed on the Pedelec.
3.I.2. Airplane
Batteries used on Pedelecs are considered potentially hazardous and cannot be transported on
airplanes. Inquire with your local forwarder to see if you can ship the battery separately.
3.I.3. Car
Your Pedelec can be transported with a standard roof or rear-mounted bicycle carrier
provided it is under the maximum load capacity of the bike carrier.
• If you transport your Pedelec attached to the outside of your car, e.g. on a bike rack,
remove the on-board computer and the Pedelec battery to avoid damaging them.
• We suggest transporting your Pedelec inside your vehicle if you have sufficient
trunk space. Be careful not to damage any parts of your bike.
• Use proper lifting techniques as electric bikes are generally heavier than bicycles.
Always use an approved and compatible bicycle rack when transporting your Pedelec. The
Bosch drive system adds weight to the bicycle. Refer to your bicycle rack manual to be sure
your Pedelec is compatible. Overloading a bike rack can result in death or serious injury.
INFO: Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up the battery in such a manner that it
cannot move around in the packaging. Inform your parcel service that the package contains
dangerous goods. Please also observe possibly more detailed national regulations. Always
check state and federal regulations before attempting to ship your battery.
Ship batteries only when the housing is undamaged.

4. Fit

NOTE: Correct fit is an essential element of bicycling safety, performance and comfort. Making the
adjustments to your bicycle that result in correct fit for your body and riding conditions requires
experience, skill and special tools. Always have your Dealer make the adjustments on your bicycle;
or, if you have the experience, skill and tools, have your Dealer check your work before riding.
WARNING: If your bicycle does not fit properly, you may lose control and fall. If
your new bike doesn't fit, ask your Dealer to exchange it before you ride it.
4.A. Standover Height
4.A.1. High Frame Bicycles
Standover height is the basic element of bike fit (fig. 7). It is the distance from the ground to the top
of the bicycle frame at the point where your body is when straddling the bike. To check for correct
standover height, straddle the bike while wearing the kind of shoes in which you'll be riding, and
bounce vigorously on your heels. If your crotch touches the frame, the bike is too big for you. Don't
even ride the bike around the block. A bike which you ride only on paved surfaces should give you
a minimum standover height clearance of two inches (5 cm). A bike that you'll ride on unpaved
surfaces should give you a minimum of three inches (7.5 cm) of standover height clearance.
