1.2.12. Electric starter
When actuating the START switch the electric circuit between battery and electric starter is closed.
The electric starter drives the gear on the crankshaft via the starter gear with sprag clutch until the
engine starts.
1.2.13. Exhaust valve
The engine has a pneumatically controlled exhaust valve, which optimizes the performance
characteristics of the engine in the lower r.p.m. range by a slide in the exhaust port. The exhaust
timing is varied depending on the exhaust gas pressure.
Up to an engine speed of approx. 7.500 r.p.m. the exhaust slide is inserted in the exhaust port.
With increasing r.p.m. and under load the pressure in the exhaust port rises and withdraws the
slide out of the exhaust port at approx. 7500 r.p.m. It is not possible to adjust the exact slide
actuating point without load, i. e. without driving.
1.2.14. Fuel pump
The fuel pump functions due to the alternating pressure in the crankcase and draws fuel from the
fuel tank via the fuel pump into the carburetor. Between fuel tank and fuel pump a fuel filter is
installed to prevent contamination of the fuel pump and carburetor.
1.2.15. Carburetor
The carburetor (DELL'ORTO VHSB 34) is a slide type carburetor with float system. The standard
main jet is suitable for almost all operating conditions. For extreme operating conditions the main
jet size must be adjusted to the actual conditions according to this Manual.
1.2.16. Intake silencer
In the intake silencer an airfilter for cleaning of the intake air is integrated. The intake silencer has
been optimized in view of reduction of intake noise and is a matched system with the engine.
The rubber foam air filter consists of several layers and has been optimized in view of air passage
and filtering effect. In case of contamination and when required by the maintenance intervals the
filter can be cleaned with biologically degradable agents.
1.2.17. Exhaust system
The exhaust system is a resonance pipe with an integrated after-muffler and is a tuned system with
the engine.
This exhaust system cannot be used for engine type FR 125 MAX.
