Before naming the disc or tracks
One disc name and a maximum of 254 track names can be entered into
one MD.
- A total of 1700 characters (approx.) can be entered into one MD for the
disc name and track names. If you try to enter more characters, "Name
Full" appears.
Entering a disc name
Example: Enter "Love Song" for the disc name
1. Press the STOP button.
2. Press the EDIT button to display "Disc Name?".

3. Press the ENTER button. The cursor blinks.

- If you want to cancel, press the STOP button.
4. Turn the MULTI JOG control until "L" appears. The character changes
as follows.
Upper case alphabet (A,B,C, . . . Y, Z)
Lower case alphabet (a,b,c, . . . y, z)
Number (0,1,2, . . . 8, 9)
Mark (!,",#, . . . `, )
(or in the reverse sequence)

5. Press the MULTI JOG control to skip to the next character.

6. Turn the MULTI JOG control until "o" appears.
7. Press the MULTI JOG control to skip to the next character.
8. Enter "v", "e", " ", "S", "o", "n" and "g" as explained above.
Note:
- When you press the MULTI JOG control more than two times, a
space is made.
If you make a mistake, press the c or d button to move the
-
cursor until the incorrect character blinks. Turn the MULTI JOG
control to enter the correct character.
9. Press the ENTER button. The disc name is entered and it appears
briefly.
When you enter more than 13 characters, the first 12 characters appear,
then all characters scroll once on the display.
Entering track names
1. In the stop mode, turn the MULTI JOG control to select the desired
track number.
2. Press the EDIT button to display "Name ?".
3. Press the ENTER button.
4. Enter the track name. (Refer to "Entering a disc name".)
5. Press the ENTER button. The track name is entered.
Clearing the disc name and all track names
1. Press the STOP button.
2. Press the EDIT button to display "Name Erase?".
3. Press the ENTER button.

TIMER OPERATION [Tuner/Amplifier]
Using the timer
(Main unit only)
Set the on and off times, function to be used and volume level. Operation
will start with the selected function at the on time. The sound will be
gradually increased from a no-sound level to the volume setting (fade-in).
The power will be switched off at the off time.
The timer will function every day unless it is released.
Preparation
Note:
Make absolutely sure that the clock is set to the correct time before setting
the timer.
- Select the function for timer operation and prepare the sources to be
used.
- If the function selected is tuner, tune in to the desired band and
station.
- For tape deck: Tape playback/recording will start in the forward
direction.
- Adjust the volume level as desired.
Operation
1. Press the TIMER button.

The previous timer on time setting appears.
2. Press the MEMORY button within 10 seconds.

3. Set the timer on time by turning the UP/DOWN control, then press the
MEMORY button (as described under "ADJUSTING THE CLOCK").
ON
The timer off time setting appears.
4. Set the timer off time as described in step 3.
OFF
The previous timer mode setting and the current function appear.
5. Select the timer mode by turning the UP/DOWN control.
- Each time the control is turned one click, the display changes as
follows.
When the function is "CD", "TUNER" or "VIDEO DVD"
0 (CD, TU or AX) PLAY wv 0REC (CD, TU or AX) > TP
wv 0REC (CD, TU or AX) > MD
When the function is "MD"
0 MD PLAY wv 0REC MD > TP
When the function is "TAPE"
0 TP PLAY wv 0REC TP > MD
Example:
0 CD PLAY: CD timer play
0REC TU > TP: For unattended recording tuner to tape
0REC TU > MD: For unattended recording tuner to MD
6. Press the MEMORY button.
The original display returns, then the timer operation standby mode is
activated. "0" (or "0 REC") remains lit.
7. Press the z/ON button to switch off the power.
- "0" (or "0 REC") blinks during a timer controlled operation.
- To switch off the power during a timer controlled operation, press the
z/ON button. The timer will be set in the standby mode.
