MD PLAY [MD deck]
If a MD is loaded, you can turn the system on and begin play
immediately by pressing the MD a button (Remote control only).
Press the z/ON button (MD deck) to turn the power on if necessary.
"SANYO", then "No Disc" appears on the display.
If the system (Tuner/Amplifier) is turned off, the z/ON button (MD
-
deck) will not function.
1. Press the INPUT button (Tuner/Amplifier) to select "MD" function.
2. Gently inset the MD with the label facing up (Fig. 15).
The MD is retracted automatically. "Welcome", then "TOC Reading"
appears. The display shows the contents of the disc (the disc name,
total number of tracks and total playing time, for example).
3. Press the PLAY button. The PLAY indicator lights and play starts from
the first track. (If the track name is memorized, the track name appears
briefly.)

The track number, elapsed playing time for the current track and input
level are displayed.
To start play from the desired track
- Select the track by turning the MULTI JOG control, then press the
PLAY button.
- If using the remote control, press the number button(s). (Example:
press 3.)
4. Press the STOP button to end MD play.
When the last track has been played, the MD deck stops automatically.
To turn the MD deck off, press the z/ON button (MD deck).
Temporarily stopping play
Press the PAUSE button. The PLAY indicator blinks. To resume play,
press the PLAY or PAUSE button.
Ejecting the MD
Press the q EJECT button.
Changing display mode
While pressing the SHIFT button, press the DISPLAY MODE button. Each
time the button is pressed, the display mode changes as follows.
In the stop mode:
Remaining time of entire disc v Disc name (or No Name) v Total
number of tracks and total playing time (initial setting)
In the play mode:
Track number and remaining time of the track v Track name (or No
Name) v Track number and elapsed playing time (initial setting)
In the recording mode:
Remaining time of entire disc v Track number and elapsed recording
time (initial setting)
To scroll the disc name or track name on the display
(Remote control only)
In the disc or track name (more than 13 characters) is displayed, while
pressing the SHIFT button, press the SCROLL button.
Skip play
To skip to track 26 while track 3 is playing, turn the MULTI JOG control until
"26" appears in TRACK on the display.
- The number button(s) on the remote control can also be used for skip
play. To skip to track 26 while one track is playing, press +10, 2, then
6.
Search (forward/reverse)
If the c or d button is pressed during play, the deck will search at high
speed in the forward or reverse direction while the button is being pressed.
When the button is released, normal play will continue.

Repeat play
(Remote control only)
Press the CD/MD REPEAT button before or during play to select the
desired repeat mode. Each time the button is pressed, the repeat mode
changes as follows.
REPEAT: All tracks repeat mode.
REPEAT 1: One track repeat mode.
Released: Normal play mode.
Random play
(Remote control only)
1. In the stop mode, press the MD PLAY MODE button to select random
play mode. "RANDOM" appears on the display.
2. Press the MD a button to begin random play. The deck will automatically
select and play tracks at random.
To cancel this mode, press n button, then press the MD PLAY MODE
-
twice.
MD PROGRAMMED PLAY
Up to 30 tracks can be programmed for play in any order.
- To begin the programming procedure, select "MD" function first.
- The tracks must be programmed in the stop mode.
- The same track can be programmed more than once.
- Load a MD that you want to programme before starting programmed
play.
Example:
To programme tracks 6, 33 and 234
1. Press the MD PLAY MODE button to select programmed play mode.
"PROGRAM" and "0 Step 0" appear on the display.
2. Press "6" number button.

3. Press "+10", "3", then "3".
4. Press "+100", "2", "3", then "4".
If you make a mistake, press the n button. Each time the button
-
is pressed, the programme erases sequentially from the track that
was entered last.
- The MULTI JOG control on the main unit can also be used. Turn
the control to select the track, then press the control.
5. Press the MD a button to start programmed play.

PROGRAM
When all programmed tracks have been played, the deck stops
automatically.
- The programme contents are retained in memory.
- The maximum number of tracks that can be programmed is 30. If you
try to enter more tracks, "Full" appears on the display.
- Programmed details cannot be changed.
- The programme is cleared when the MD PLAY MODE button is
pressed in the stop mode.
Note:
When turning the power off in the ecology standby on mode, random play
and programmed play modes are cancelled. Pay attention in the timer
operation.
