Safe Operation Practices for Ride-On Mowers
IMPORTANT: THIS CUTTING MACHINE IS CAPABLEOF AMPUTATING HANDS AND FEET AND THROWING OBJECTS. FAILURE
TO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSCOULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

Never allowchildrenor peopleunfamiliar w iththeinstnJc-
tionsto usethelawnmower. L ocalregulations maymstdct

Never mow whilepeople,especially children,or petsare
nearby.
Keep in mindthatthe operatoror user is responsible for
accidentsor hazardsoccurringto other peopleor their
property.
Do not carry passengers.
All driversshouldseek and obtainprofessional and prac-
tical instruction.Such instruction shouldemphasize:
- the need for care and concentration when working
with ride-onmachines;
- controlof a dde-on machinesliding on a slopewill
not he regainedbythe application of the brake.
The main reasonsfor loss ofcontrolare:
a) insufficient wheel grip;
b) being driventoofast;
c) inadequatebraking;
d) the type of machineis unsuitable for itstask;
e) lack of awareness of the effect of ground
conditions,especially s lopes;
f) incorrecthitching and loaddistdbution.
II.Preparation
While mowing,alwayswearsubstantial footwearandlong
trousers. Do not operatethe equipmentwhen barefoot
or wearing opensandals.
Thoroughlyinspectthe area where the equipment is to
be used and removeall objectswhichmay he thrown by
the machine.
WARNING - Petrol is highly flammable.
Store fuel in containers specifically designed for this
purpose.
Refuel outdoors only and do not smoke while refu-
eling.

Add fuel before starting the engine. Never remove
the cap of the fuel tank or add petrol while the engine
is running or when the engine is hot.

If petrol is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine
but move the machine away from the area of spillage
and avoid creating any source of ignition until petrol
vapors have dissipated.
Replace all fuel tanks and container caps securely.
Replace faulty silencers.
Before using, always visually inspect to see that the
blades, blade bolts and cutter assembly are not worn or
damaged.
Replace worn or damaged blades and bolts
in sets to presarve balance.
On multi-bladed machines, take care as rotatingone blade
can cause other bledes to rotate.
Do not operate the engine in a confinedspace where
dangerouscarbonmonoxidefumes can collect.
Mow onlyin daylight o r in good artificiallight.
Before attempting to startthe engine,disengageall blade
attachmentclutchesand shiftintoneutral.
Do net usa on sfopesof morothan 10o.
Rememberthere isno suchthin_] a s a "safe" slope. Travel
on grasss=opes r squ=res p articu=ar care. Toguardagainst
overturning;

Use care when pullingloadsor usingheavy equipment.
- Use onlyapproveddrawbarhitchpoints.
- Limitloadsto those you can safelycontrol.
- Do not turnsharply.Use care when reversing.
- Use counterweight(s) o r wheel weights when sug-
gestedin theinstruction handbook.
Watch outfor trafficwhen crossingor near roadways.
Stop the bladesfrom rotatingbeforecrossingsurfaces
otherthan grass.
When usingany attachments,neverdirect dischargeof
material towardbystandersnor allow anyone near the
machinewhilein operation.
Never operate the lawnmower with defective guards,
shieldsor withoutsafatyprotective devicesin place.
Do notchan_etheenginegovernor s ettingsor overspeed
theengine,uperatingtheengineat excessivespeed may
increasethe nazardof personal injury.
Beforeleavingthe operator'sposition:
- disengagethe powertake-offand lowerthe attach-
ments;
changeintoneutraland sat the parkingbrake;
stopthe engineand removethe key.
Disengagedriveto attachments,stop the engine and
disconnect t he spark pug w re(s)or removethe ignition
key
beforecleaningblockages or unclogging chute;
beforechecking,cleaningor workingon the lawn-
mower;
- afterstriking a foreign object. Inspectthe lawnmower
for damage and make repairs beforerestartingand
operatingtheequipment;
- if the machinestarts to vibrate abnormally (check
immediately).
Disengagedrivetoattachments whentransporting or not
In use.
Stop the engine and disengage drive to attachment
